Marking the 10th anniversary of its founding, RequaL≡ held its first fashion show since its 2023 A/W season. Positioned as a project to reconstruct the brand’s 10-year journey and its origins, the show’s theme was “(re)code × (re)member.” The brand reexamined its very essence through superimposing both its past and present. With “rewriting memory and code” as a key concept, this commemorative show spanned the timeline of past, present, and future through collaborations with 10 different creators the designer admired and accompanied him in his artistic journey.

Among them were Mr. Nakagawa of “Banal Chic Bizarre”—a brand that designer Doi has long admired—Mr. Yoshida of “KEISUKEYOSHIDA,” a contemporary of Doi’s, and “Overlace,” with whom Doi shares a connection as fellow natives of the same region. “Without fashion, I wouldn’t be myself. It’s not so much a job as it is a way of life. I hope to cherish both myself and the brand with love, while also valuing my own life,” stated designer Doi. During the press conference of RequaL SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027, he would step close to the reporters asking questions and respond intimately as if engaging in a deep conversation—a gesture that spoke to the strength of a brand that has endured for 10 years. At the end of the show, Doi sprinted down the runway, noticeably wearing a pair of AI-powered Meta glasses.

Founded in 2016, RequaL≡ represents a distinctive voice within Japan’s independent fashion scene, moving beyond conventional streetwear through its experimental approach to contemporary design. The brand is recognized for its constructive forms, dynamic silhouettes, and unisex perspective, creating clothing that balances structure, movement, and individuality. With its conceptual yet wearable language, RequaL≡ continues to explore new possibilities in contemporary Japanese fashion while maintaining a strong sense of identity.
