Romeo Gigli Release New Eyewear Collection, A MATTER OF VISION.
The new Romeo Gigli Eyewear collection deepens the brand’s design exploration through twelve new models—six optical frames and six sunglasses. At the heart of the collection lies the interplay between material, form, and perception, developed along two key lines of the Romeo Gigli vocabulary: the “Tactile” concept and a fresh interpretation of the brand’s heritage.
Designed with a particular focus on optical eyewear, the collection explores the contours of the face through precise shapes and varied volumes. Elongated geometries coexist with bolder profiles, squared-off constructions, and cat-eye accents. The lines gain character through variations in thickness and proportion, resulting in frames that subtly reshape the balance of the face.
The “Tactile” concept evolves, elevating the material into a more structured, sensory dimension. Surfaces, volumes, and proportions become integral to the design, while three-dimensional detailing, bonding techniques, and layering accentuate the frame’s depth. Acetate takes on an almost architectural presence, defined by transparencies, overlays, and color variations that highlight its underlying structure.
In dialogue with the wardrobe, the eyewear gains an even more distinct presence. The frames complement sartorial volumes, fluid fabrics, and layered looks, integrating into the overall ensemble with the same meticulous attention given to the clothing itself. The interplay between face, material, and silhouette creates a sophisticated, contemporary aesthetic.
The collection also introduces a new chapter dedicated to the brand’s heritage by reinterpreting the iconic RG9 model. This reference point has inspired a family of four hybrid models—combining acetate and titanium—where the spirit of the original design meets contemporary proportions and construction. The lightness of titanium interacts with the substantial presence of acetate, striking a perfect balance between structure and airiness. The exploration of titanium continues with two sunglass models crafted entirely from this material, characterized by extreme lightness and a precise, minimalist construction. Alongside these, the RGS.619X-PP—a bold, unisex shield-style model—takes the Romeo Gigli design language into a more assertive and experimental realm.
The sunglasses complete the narrative through gradient lenses, wraparound volumes, and more pronounced geometric shapes. Light plays a role in the eyewear’s construction through color and transparency, establishing a link to the design approach used for the optical frames.
The new Romeo Gigli Eyewear collection thus defines a universe where material, memory, and innovation coexist within a unified vision. Eyewear becomes part of the Maison’s visual language, forging a connection between the face, form, and individual sensibility.
