Ungaro Women Spring/Summer 2027 / SS27 at Paris Fashion Week. An Imaginary Garden Inspired by India.

For Ungaro Women SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027, flowers become more than a decorative element. They tell a story about life, beauty and the emotions that come with change, drawing on the designer’s journey to Varanasi, one of India’s most sacred cities. During the visit, the designer witnessed ancient rituals surrounding life and death along the Ganges River. While the ceremonies carried a sense of solemnity, the flowers offered a different perspective. They floated on the water, appeared in religious offerings and surrounded moments of prayer and remembrance. Their colours and delicate forms brought an unexpected sense of beauty to these deeply meaningful rituals. The experience became the starting point for a collection that explores the relationship between fragility and strength, joy and melancholy, and endings and new beginnings. Flowers take centre stage, not simply as embellishments, but as a way of expressing the different stages of life.

This idea develops into what the designer calls an “Imaginary Garden.” Rather than recreating a specific place in India, Ungaro Women SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 collection draws on the memories of its vegetation, flowers, colours and richly detailed architecture. The result is a dreamlike setting that brings together personal memories and imagination. Craftsmanship plays an important role in bringing this garden to life. Ungaro collaborated with Deepa Gurnani on a series of accessories, including headpieces, earrings, necklaces and chokers. Embroidery, beads, pearls and three-dimensional floral details give the pieces a handcrafted quality. Flowers appear to extend beyond the garments, finding their way into the hair and around the neck, creating a connection between the clothes and the natural world that inspired them.

Ungaro Women SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 presentation takes this concept into a digital environment. Although the garden, floor and models seen in the final film were created digitally, the garments and accessories themselves are real. Each piece was designed and made before being photographed on a model against a white background. These photographs were then used to build the film, placing the physical collection within an imagined landscape. This approach allows the setting to become part of the collection’s story without taking away from the actual work behind the clothes and accessories. The contrast between real garments and a digitally created garden reflects the collection’s central idea: a place shaped as much by memory and emotion as by physical surroundings.

With Spring/Summer 2027, Ungaro Women brings together floral details, handcrafted accessories and digital presentation to explore a personal response to India. At its heart is a simple but thoughtful idea: beauty can exist alongside sadness, and even the end of something can make room for a new beginning.
