Sergio Hudson goes on safari for his Spring/Summer 2022 collection with renewed fervor, fresh colors and new design techniques. 

Hudson remained true to his signature aesthetic with immaculate tailoring and fitted dresses, but also stepped outside of his comfort zone with new silhouettes and fabrications, including safari jackets, mini skirt suits, knitwear and biased cut evening wear made with chiffon and silk charmeuse in pastel shades of mint green, sky blue, and lavender. 

The inspiration began with the sound of Afrobeats mixed with pop a la Beyoncé’s “Grown Woman” and the idea of merging two different worlds. “I wanted to have fun and incorporate my usually layered aesthetic into Spring and the theme of Safari kept coming back to me.” From there, Hudson pulled inspiration from extravagant and beloved film and TV icons and designed looks for them as if they were on a safari excursion, specifically Cher from the movie “Clueless”, Whitley Gilbert from 90’s sitcom “A Different World” and Lisa Turtle from “Saved by the Bell.” 

Hudson collaborated with Malone Souliers to produce footwear to match each look with his aesthetic including two styles: the Jojo and the Lilli offered in Raffia, Nappa leather and Elaphe in vibrant colors and metallics.

The brand also collaborated with Swarovski for the abstract animal print finale gown, which was paired with De Beers Talisman drop earrings to complete the look.
