GABRIELLA DI SAMBUY FALL WINTER 2022 – 2023 PRESENT CATHARSIS AT MILAN FASHION

Gabriella di Sambuy is an emerging inclusive brand, which defends freedom of expression, suffocated by stereotypes and social constraints. The Fall Winter 2022 – 2023 collection was created with the intention of freeing people from the chains that society imposes on them, freeingt hem from material desires, social conventions, and prejudices. The collection takes the name of Catharsis, which in Greek means purification, redemption, cure.
“I wouldlikethiscollection to be a catharsis notonly for the wearerbutalso for the viewer; a cure to free people, to make them feel beautiful and sure of themselves, to face life with more positivity and lightness.”explains Gabriella di Sambuy.
The garments are eco-sustainable and Gabriella di Sambuy’s goal is to create a slow ashion brand for conscious consumption, with quality and Made in Italy, which enhances creativity and craftsmanship. All the garments are handmade, a part of the collectionis made up of haute couture garments, tailor-made pieces and pieces created in upcycling to limitwaste and give a future to the past. Gabriella di Sambuy definesher style as «alienbaroque» preciselybecause of the desire to safe guard tradition by projecting it into the future. This concept is also taken up in the choice of materials, the bespoke garments are made with natural and Italian fabrics recovered from the end of production, therefore unique and unrepeatable. Part of the collection includes limited edition items that can be made on request and customized.

The show is a genderfluid Fashion Performance, representing diversity and talent. Itstagesdancers, performers, and atypical models and wants to allow each individual to be himself after the difficult period wehave been through. During the show the Phoenix, a symboldear to Gabriella di Sambuy, opposes the Venetian Doctor of the Plague, whore presentsCovid and social oppression, and defeats him by sacrificing herself to be reborn from hisownashes and leavespace, thanks to an interpretation in a modernkey, to a second part of the show, positive and celebratory, in which the mood becomes disco and glam rock.

About Gabrielle di Sambuy
Gabriella di Sambuy is a young designer of Franco-Italian nationality who for med her stylistic taste at the crossroads of twocultures. From her Italian origins she has taken the baroque style that distinguishe her, the elegant and refined lines, the taste for noble materials and craftsmanship. She trained in France at the ChambreSyndicale de la Couture Parisienne, where she acquired the technical skills of Haute Couture. During these years she has also complete dher creative DNA by attending the Parisian underground, developing a chic and at the same time provocative and irreverent style, which celebrates freedom of expression and clears prejudices by making the dress a social armor to feel stronger and self-confident. Afterher last working experience at Jean Paul Gaultier, she decided to return to Italy to create her own maison to express her values and her creativity.
