Hosted at the historic Jardin des Plantes on June 22, 2022, Reese Cooper marks his first official live appearance on the FHCM calendar with a runway show and presentation aptly named “Seed & Soil.”
Demonstrating nature’s growth cycle, the show is set in three distinct parts featuring soil, water, and light—all the elements needed to create the stunning environment around us while mirroring the brand’s own “grass roots” journey.
The theme of growth is distilled into core REESE COOPER® silhouettes and new styles alike. Familiar forms continue to appear notably refined season on season, as the brand and Cooper continue to evolve together. Styles are elevated with rich wool fabrics, asymmetrical zippers and extend into modern suiting.
With SS23, Cooper also introduces an innovative modular pocket system that reimagines traditional workwear pieces, adding both functionality and personal flair. The pockets can be mixed and matched by colour or fabric and added to pieces across the series, including cargo pants and work jackets.
Drawing inspiration from the garden itself, the womenswear features landscapes and blueprints on silk dresses, skirts and camisoles. A suit made of a subtle “tree textured” cotton is a highlight. The details in each look are a tribute to this Parisian landmark. For example, plaid patterns are a replica of the garden grid visible by aerial view. Scarves depicting dozens of the botanical species within the park were hand painted then printed on to silk by fine artist and designer, Juliet Johnstone.
New from Reese Cooper for SS23 is a cinchable nylon series that showcases a modernised trench coat, dresses, jackets and tops that utilise bungee cording to create multiple looks in each individual garment.
Signature outwear is always a favourite for the brand. This season’s varsity jacket includes bespoke chenille patches overlaid with intricate embroidery, again pulling elements from the park itself.
Mixed within Cooper’s largest collection to date is a collaboration with Levi’s that includes 10 traditional pieces updated with a Reese Cooper flare. Teased ahead of Fashion Week, the collaboration will be available for sale at a REESE COOPER® x Levi’s Pop-Up in Paris and online after the show on the Reese Cooper webstore. Cooper also worked with Levi’s deadstock to create a number of one-of-one reconstructed pants and jackets for both men and women.
A first look at the REESE COOPER® x Thierry Lasry sunglasses collaboration is also unveiled. Cooper’s affinity for camouflage, forest green and signal orange were the perfect fit for the Thierry Lasry Flexxy which will release later this summer.
Finally, footwear continues to be a standout for the brand. The recognisable Wilson Boots and newly designed Lanier Boots are shown alongside an ongoing collaborative partnership with Merrell 1TRL. Lightweight Hikers and an all-terrain Hydro Moc are the perfect pairing with the new RCI line.
All garments are made in Los Angeles, California.
