ATLEIN Spring Summer 2023 at Paris Fashion Week on October 2nd 2022 Palais de Tokyo.
• Sigourney Weaver’s performance in Alien (1979), the cult classic film by Ridley Scott had a profound impact on Antonin. Weaver as Ripley represents the power and strength of femininity, a modern heroine. The strong imagery of her performance – sweating, dripping, fighting, is a key reference for the SS23 show and an important inspiration for Antonin as a designer.
• The collection focuses on the essence of ATLEIN and the core of Antonin’s work with jersey, the most emblematic material of his practice.
• Starting point for Atlein Spring Summer 23 are the ruched dresses first introduced with the Fall Winter 18 collection – a study and evolution of this foundational style.
• Ruched, draped, pulled: Antonin focuses on his signature design elements. The silhouette is sharp but not restrictive. The comfort of jersey essential to the active body. Its fluidity creates a wet and organic feel, a sharp contrast to the utilitarian cotton and cracknyl which render a raw and mineral effect.
• The colour palette is “alien”, muted with moody greys, off whites and browns enhanced by acid flashes of lime green, neon blue and a reptilian print.
• ATLEIN maintains its hybrid fabric selection with the inclusion of fully recycled materials and the continuing collaboration with the Seaqual Initiative; the Seaqual Yarn is a high quality 100% post-consumer recycled polyester yarn containing upcycled marine plastic.
