What is Rokubuen?

Rokubuen is a fashion brand that wants to take advantage of Japanese style, and values traditional Japanese culture, techniques, and the concept of kimono.

The designer is made up of three people.

They are Yuko Mukai who studied under Kansai Yamamoto, Yushi Takeuchi who is 22 years old, and Daisuke Adachi.

In 2020, he officially started his first fashion show, and will participate in Tokyo Fashion Week from the 23rd SS in 2022, making it his third time this season.

ROKUBUEN Spring Summer 2024 How to make the best use of kimono rolls?

We explored new ways to use kimono cloth and use it as clothing material.

I tried to make use of Nishijin textile materials.

I tried using kimono cloth as clothing material.

I tried to reuse unsold kimono fabrics as vintage items.

First of all, we wanted to symbolize the concept of the kimono and the beauty of the kimono, so we created a kimono by a Japanese seamstress using the same Aizome slash quilt fabric that we have often used at Rokubuen, giving it a standard look. Coordinated with a red obi belt with a round obi belt, gold thread pure silk, and a gauzy belt.

Koikuchi shirt. Using kimono rolls, it is made on the premise that sewing from a general roll of 38cm width. It is a shirt made of pure silk, which we wanted to make the best use of the beauty of kimono cloth. The cargo pants are made of jacquard slash fabric made in Japan. It has a Japanese pattern and is below the knee length with a hakama-inspired design.

Uses kimono cloth woven in Kyoto. Shirts and dresses made of pure silk fabric with a woven chrysanthemum pattern. The fabric is dyed brown rust black.

Nishijin-ori belt and standard setup.

A dress inspired by a kimono. Using kimono fabric, the size concept is close to one-size-fits-all. The obi belt and shoes are also decorated with Nishijin textiles.

We not only use fabrics made in Japan, but also conscious of the fusion of Japan and overseas, An item that utilizes lace fabric with floral embroidery from Spain that has a Japanese pattern feel to it. The dress has a simple design with a beautiful silhouette in mind. The lace shirt is a unisex item that Rokubuen continues to propose every season.

Yuko Mukai hand-processes items that have already been announced. Rokubuen is a remade item that we are working on every season with revitalization in mind.
