Ancuta Sarca SS24 at London Fashion Week

Ancuta Sarca SS24 / Spring Summer 2024 at London Fashion Week with entitled ‘Florii’.

In her most intuitive collection yet, Ancuta Sarca taps into the nostalgic memories of her childhood spent sketching in Romania. She draws inspiration from her enduring love for creating flower doodles, a cherished practice she’s held since her earliest recollections. For Ancuta Sarca Spring Summer 2024— titled Florii, named after a joyous Romanian tradition of gathering loved ones for a feast on the last Sunday before Easter—the core theme of the designs centres around a floral insignia.

Inspired by renowned artists such as Aristide Maillol, Georges Seurat, and John Singer Sargent, known for their sun-soaked landscapes that often include serene water elements, this collection captures the essence of carefree summers.

Embracing Ancuta Sarca’s ethos, there’s an emphasis on upcycling, featuring mules and pointed-toe sandals crafted from repurposed white leather car seats and handcrafted floral motifs from previous collections waste materials.

The creative process not only highlights the brand’s distinctive fusion of rugged and delicate elements, but also challenges gender ideologies. Elsewhere, the clog gets a fresh twist with pink suede and sporty stripes on its sides.

This season’s garments take on a more airy feel, with charity shop graphic T-shirts and miniskirts overlaid with pastel-hued mesh. These additions further accentuate the brand’s signature exploration of contrastscontrasts for Ancuta Sarca SS24.

There are also shoulder bags—available in three colour ways including scarlet, silver-and-white, and black-and-white—which all feature details from repurposed materials. Sunglasses, created in partnership with A Better Feeling, will be fashioned from existing stock and feature the recurring floral motif.

For Ancuta Sarca SS24, Set in the Old Selfridges Hotel venue, the space exudes the utopian mood of the collection. The floor, adorned in a striking shade of grey, features strategically placed mirrors, encircled by grey sand to create an ethereal lake-like ambiance.
