MARRKNULL Fall/Winter 2024 / FW24 Collection presents “HOUSE”

MARRKNULL’s latest collection, ”HOUSE”, channels the ethereal and the enigmatic. Inspired by duality and the interplay of shadow and light, this season, MARRKNULL FW24 features long skirts that defy traditional softness, incorporating bold textures and dark hues reminiscent of thorns and wilderness.

Founded by Tim Shi and Mark Wang in 2016, MARRKNULL integrates both past and contemporary Chinese culture, reflecting on the concept of normality. The brand blends a unique fashion attitude with anti-fashion principles, removing the inherent functionality of clothing to shape a future style that combines historical perspectives with a contemporary approach.

Since its establishment, MARRKNULL has been recognized for its distinctive brand style. It was highlighted by DAZED as “The Label shaking up Chinese Fashion.” In 2018, the brand was named a VFILES RUNWAY winner. It was nominated as a YU PRIZE finalist in 2022 and as an LVMH PRIZE semi-finalist in 2023. Additionally, MARRKNULL was selected as a winner of the 2023 HYPEBEAST 100 NEXT and one of the 2023 10 ASIAN DESIGNERS TO WATCH.

HOUSE

A storm is approaching, the world awakens from yesterday. The long dress betrays the softness of velvet, sipping the night, thorns, and wasteland. Piano notes strike the window frame, gloomy electronic music. The house door is pushed open by the mist, shadows flee the candlelight, slipping into the folds of the dress. Matter dissolves into ripples, peeking at the heartbeat. She appears, bringing with her the scent of decayed earth, temptation, metaphor, and danger. Language hides like shadows, blending into the dust. The mottled sweatshirt blooms with flowers. She descends the stairs, flowing into a red river in the night. Roses burn, clocks fall. Sharp thorns, soft skin, a fire on the verge of extinguishing. Time is endless, entwined with the stairs. In the house of MARRKNULL, puzzles forget their answers, returning to the origin of chaos. The lingering twilight of old days shatters in the glass, only to reappear. Rising is falling, backward is forward.
