A series of interconnected, undone arguments.

Hed Mayner’s new collection evokes the same tension as a can of Coke shaken and waiting to burst.

A loop of activity.

The designer spent the season going against habit, working on expanding and reimagining proportions, but in a way that challenged his instinct to intricately cut new patterns and cocoon the body in wide shoulders and spacious pants.

A study in contradiction both in the process of making and in what remains.

Hed Mayner Spring Summer 2025 is less about construction and more about how textiles – coated and uncoated, shiny and matte, bonded and foiled, layered and zipped – create their own silhouette and line.

A review of the monumental.

The look is statuesque. Crisp. When you squeeze shape or hold volume in place with cuffs, belts or buckles, the fabric around the body takes on a buoyancy and persuasive grace. A tailored gilet is lined with 3D pockets that add volume from the inside. Creases are baked into the elbows of sweaters.

A spare two-button linen vest sits as if it wants to open over the hips.

A home-made plissé with herringbone texture has been developed to hold its own shape. It cinches the volume of Mayner’s decisive tailoring closer to the body offering a more active stance.

A slashed cable knit sweater guides air across the skin.

A kind of abstraction that is not decorative.

A shirt was moved across the body from the front to the back and the side before a new pattern was made. Here the shirting purposely drops at the yoke and then falls diagonally at the front in full swing.

A cuff belted around the waist of a cotton shirt gathers volume, creating an urgent swoop at the back.

A three-button jacket was pulled at the neck; the collar taken off. Now its arms fall forward in active repose.

A kind of abstraction that is not decorative.
