New York (September 10th, 2024), Kate Barton affirmed her position as “one to watch” with her debut runway show for Spring/Summer 2025 collection at New York Fashion Week. Her show was made possible with the support of her alma mater, the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), and everyone’s favorite snack, Goldfish.

Forging a path distinct from traditional fashion narratives, Kate Barton’s work transcends fleeting trends and personality-driven concepts, focusing instead on the architecture of fabric and form. Her designs, grounded in a fabric-first philosophy, explore the intersection of volume, texture, and silhouette, creating pieces that are at once surprising and timeless.

Since launching her label in 2022, Barton’s rise has been fueled by an unwavering commitment to innovation. A graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), and now a 2024 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist, Barton has quickly established herself as “one to watch” in American fashion. Her work is characterized by innovative techniques—molded draping, sculptural tailoring, and a deft use of unconventional materials—that challenge the status quo without losing sight of wearability.

Kate Barton SS25 / Spring/Summer 2025 collection further deepens Barton’s exploration of her design philosophy, presenting a broader yet equally innovative range while staying true to the experimental integrity that defines her work. Across 30 looks, her debut runway unfolded as a narrative of evolution—both personal and stylistic.

Kate Barton SS25 collection engages with form, identity, and craftsmanship in a transformative dialogue. The casting reflected the diverse expressions of womanhood shaped by a city like New York, enriching the story of Kate’s creative process. From the purity of technical mastery to playful and bold explorations in print, texture, and color, her line up showcased a progression toward the mastery of form and volume. Tailored separates, crafted with architectural precision, revealed Barton’s command of structure, while sculptural designs blur the lines between fashion and art, with dresses featuring gravity-defying molded volumes.

Kate Barton’s debut runway was not just a statement of arrival—it’s an articulation of a design philosophy that privileges process and materiality over spectacle. Barton’s work stands as a compelling argument for innovation grounded in craft. Each piece is a testament to her belief that modernity is not about rejecting the past, but about transforming it through the lens of technology, sustainability, and a relentlessly forward-thinking vision.

“Today was very special. Not only it is exciting to see my collection on the runway for the first time, it is also heartwarming to feel so supported. From the industry leaders in the room to so many inspiring women I admire. Thank you Winnie Harlow for walking my show today and Kat Graham, Whitney Port, Madisin Rian, Arsema Thomas, Andraya Carter, Aweng Chuol and Amanda Batula for attending” – Kate

Kate Barton is an esteemed alumna of the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she earned her MFA in fashion design. The university takes pride in Kate’s talents and achievements and is excited to partner with her for her first runway show, reflecting SCAD’s commitment to supporting its alumni in their professional endeavors. Quote from SCAD president and founder Paula Wallace: “SCAD grads forever lead the vogue vanguard. Kate’s meteoric success comes as no surprise, as her award-winning label perfectly personifies the sartorial invention nurtured through her SCAD education. Only three years after commencement and she’s earned a trophy room of honors from CFDA and FGI, not to mention her costuming on the chicest show streaming, Emily in Paris.

Kate has already transformed the industry with a proprietary draping method—utilizing exclusively engineered fabrics—that transcends the need for darts and seams, creating maximum volume with minimal waste, a revolutionary innovation embraced by Beyoncé, Heidi Klum, and Halle Bailey. Who wouldn’t want to rock Kate’s gravity-defying ensembles down the red carpet? What an honor to cheer her on from the front row as this SCAD supernova makes her NYFW runway debut. Kate Barton: the New-New NOW of future-forward fashion!”
