Courrèges Women Spring/Summer 2025 / SS25 at Paris Fashion Week
Inspired by the Möbius band, the Courrèges Women SS25 collection is built like an infinite loop – it explores principles of repetition and reduction to depict a genealogy of shape. Allowing his process to guide the way, Nicolas Di Felice condenses 60 years of Courrèges legacy through the instinctive exercise of the hand. An interlude of physicality and intuition in the flux of digital life, this season reconnects with primordial gestures of savoir-faire.
Using the architecture of a 1962 Haute Couture cape as his starting point, Di Felice chisels out each passing silhouette, decomposing volume to build his timeline of creation. Heritage shapes evolve organically through interlocking or seamless constructions and engineered fabrications. A morphing of the silhouettes’ profiles defines the sequence of Courrèges Women SS25 collection: from the leather cocoon of the cape, to neoprene-bonded tailoring, to hybrid flous and deconstructed jerseys that evoke the sculptural undulations of fabric underwater.
Details of Courrèges Women SS25 / Spring/Summer 2025, A fluid formulation of House geometry, the closing gowns feature elliptical patterns fused with details of jersey. Fragments of an oceanic dream flow throughout – Feathered ear-cuffs and speckled prints on dresses and the newest edition of the Holy Bag capture the phantomatic presence of a jellyfish. On the hems of silk slip-dresses, delicate boning mimics the ripples of the sea. In the final act, the deep-blue chiffon of bias-cut dresses catches the breeze like sails in the night… In their step, variations of oblique-cut scuba heels push the silhouettes forward, beaded embroideries swaying to the rhythm of the giant instrument in the room. With each wave, Di Felice exposes the anatomy of the garment, releasing the expression of the body.
Circling back to the naturalism of past seasons, today’s installation is imagined by Di Felice and scenography director Rémy Brière in collaboration with Finnish artist duo Grönlund-Nisunen. In the heart of the heritage white space, a monumental ‘Ocean Drum’ recreates the sound of waves, weaving white noise into the dissonant layers of the score. Designed by Erwan Sene and Di Felice, the season’s soundtrack builds its ambient melody around the isolated chorus of a legendary rave anthem, twisted mantra of a symphonic meditation.
All around, the hypnotic symphony of the ocean pays tribute to the soothing synergy of repeated cycles. Repetition, revolution, renewal…
