CFDA Fashion Awards 2024 Gives Trophy to Daniel Roseberry from Schiaparelli for honor with the prestigious International Designer Of The Year Award.

Last night in New York, Creative Director Daniel Roseberry was honored with the prestigious International Designer of the Year Award at the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards in the presence of the most influential people in fashion. This accolade, one of the most coveted in the fashion industry, celebrates Roseberry’s remarkable impact on global fashion and his boundary-pushing work at the helm of the iconic Parisian couture Maison.

“Since joining the House in 2019, Daniel Roseberry has reimagined the legacy of Elsa Schiaparelli, infusing her avant-garde spirit with modern, artistic expression. His visionary and instantly recognizable designs—bold, sculptural, and surreal—, have captivated the fashion world, making our house a favorite among A-list celebrities and red carpet events worldwide” says Delphine Bellini, CEO of Schiaparelli. “Roseberry’s collections blend Haute Couture with the Maison’s signature gold and surreal aesthetic, combining luxurious craftsmanship with artful innovation.

The CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) Awards, often regarded as the “Oscars of Fashion,” recognize excellence in American and international fashion design. This year’s event, held at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, was a star-studded celebration of creativity and craftsmanship. Roseberry’s win underscores his influence on the fashion industry, not only in Paris but across the globe.

In accepting the award, Daniel Roseberry expressed gratitude for the recognition: “To be honored by the 2024 CFDA Fashion Awards is both humbling and exhilarating. At Schiaparelli, we strive to create work that transcends fashion, and to be recognized by this community of extraordinary talent is deeply meaningful to me and to everyone at the house.”

ABOUT DANIEL ROSEBERRY, Daniel Roseberry was born in 1985 in Plano, Texas. The son of a priest and an artist-mother, he and his three siblings were raised in a deeply religious household. He even considered entering the ministry himself before enrolling in New York’s fashion Institute of Technology, which he left after two years to begin working at Thom Browne, the New York-based tailoring house, where Roseberry rose to become Head of Design. Since 2019, when he was appointed Artistic director of Schiaparelli, the designer has become known for resurrecting some of the Maison’s most beloved and influential codes and iconography, while paying homage to its founder, Elsa Schiaparelli’s love of Surrealism; at the same time, he has subverted many of those same codes, contributing a new aesthetic vocabulary with his frequent use of gold jewelry and hardware, repurposed denim, and molded leather and metal breast plates and body parts. For his past Couture and Ready-to-Wear collections, he has come up with bold, subversive accessories that pay tribute to both the Maison’s surrealist aesthetic and to the cowboy culture of his native Texas, such as the faux-hair cowboy tie.

This honor solidifies Roseberry’s place among the fashion elite and confirms his status as a transformative force in contemporary design. As Schiaparelli continues to evolve under his leadership, the world eagerly anticipates the next chapter of his creative journey.
