Carolina Herrera FW25 / Fall Winter 2025 – 2026 at New York Fashion Week
“Growth has its season. There are spring and summer, but there are also fall and winter. And then spring and summer again. As long as the roots are not severed, all is well and all will be well.” – Chance the Gardener a.k.a. Chauncey Gardiner “Being There”
“Being There” is one of my favorite films, and the starting point of this collection. I was thinking about that moment in the garden, just after the rain. There is a pureness to Chance the Gardener that informed this collection – a distilled sense of beauty. The thought of tending to our wardrobes the way he would tend to his garden – meticulously, with thoughtful care. Being there.
This collection is about exploring the idea of ephemeral beauty – that single elusive moment where everything comes into focus, where everything is perfect in the garden. It is comprised of pieces that I cherish in the now – pieces I nurture in my creative process that I hope the Herrera woman treasures just as much when she brings it into her wardrobe, like planting a new seed in the garden.
A jacquard in floral lurex blooms into a precisely cut column gown or immaculate pencil skirts on the runway. A sparkling gold bullion tulip embroidery adorns dramatic coats and dresses. The perfect shade of cornflower blue comes to life in a column dress created in countless minutely gathered pintuck pleats, or delicate lace separates. Silk rosettes, with petals handmade one by one, bloom at the hip, on voluminous skirts or as a dramatic strapless bustier.
The rich color palette of the collection is inspired by one of my favorite pieces in the Metropolitan Museum – Sonia Delaunay’s “Rhythm Color.” There is a harmony in the colors that I wanted to evoke as the looks criss-cross each other in the garden.
