A LETTER

Dearest, As we embark on a new season, I find myself reflecting on the inspirations that have guided our creative journey thus far. Over the past seasons, we have explored the vast expanse of THE SEA and the boundless reaches of THE SKY. Now, we complete our trilogy by turning our gaze to THE EARTH — the grounding force that unites us all.

In a world often marked by disconnection, the earth serves as a reminder of our interconnectedness. It is a source of stability amidst the ever-changing landscape of our lives. This season, we delve into the earth’s essence — its layers, movements, and rich colors — to capture its enduring qualities in our garments.

Personally, I find solace in the simple act of tending to my garden. It is a labor of love that grounds me and reminds me of life’s rhythms. During a recent visit to Paris, I was introduced to the work of Indian architect Bijoy Jain, whose dedication to craft and concern for the relationship between humanity and nature inspired me immensely and reaffirmed my commitment to creating with purpose and integrity.

Another muse is the Danish artist Sara Martinsen, who has created show pieces for us using raw, unprocessed materials.

Her work seamlessly combines beauty with a profound understanding of materials. Each piece is crafted from biogenic plant materials, which absorb CO2 as they grow.

We aim to infuse a sense of groundedness and longevity into everything we make. I ask myself how we can create high-end occasion wear that still feels meaningful and valuable beyond the price tag. When I seek answers, I always turn to craftsmanship and the work of the hand as the ultimate solution.

Creating a garment is a team effort. With the unveiling of our new brand name, MKDT Studio, we celebrate the craftsmanship and collaborative spirit that define us — a reminder that our creations are not just garments, but a testament to the power of creativity and connection. And that it truly takes a village to bring it to life.
