Acne Studios Women Fall/Winter 2025 / FW25 at Paris Fashion Week
Acne Studios Women FW25 / Fall/Winter 2025 collection, designed by Jonny Johansson, explores the dynamic tension between two seemingly opposing worlds: the serenity of nature and the fast-paced energy of urban life. Johansson’s Nordic upbringing, deeply connected to nature, has influenced this collection, reflecting the fascination with how nature and urban environments coexist. The collection portrays the contrast between these two worlds through its design, presenting a vision of harmony between the natural and the artificial.
The runway show of Acne Studios Women FW25 / Fall/Winter 2025 was set against a striking juxtaposition of a futuristic city skyline and a natural landscape, brought to life through woven sculptures by the design duo Front. Their pieces, inspired by native Swedish nature, perfectly contrasted with the sleek, artificial skyline. Johansson felt that the blend of these elements reinforced the idea of two worlds coexisting within the collection, enhancing the illusion of harmony between nature and urban life.
The silhouettes in Acne Studios Women FW25 / Fall/Winter 2025 collection’s outerwear and tailoring feature softer, rounded shoulders and sleeves, often resembling the volume of power suits. Relaxed pieces like flowing dresses seem effortlessly thrown on, while legs are emphasized with shorter hems, slits, and stretchy stockings. The 1970s influences are evident in the draped fabrics and sculpted bodysuits, while retro silk scarves are reimagined as tops and dresses. This blending of classic shapes and contemporary forms explores new ways of presenting vintage styles.
Fabric choices in the collection showcase contrasting textures, with smooth leather juxtaposed against undulating, hand-washed, crinkled finishes. Faux fur, shearling, and flocked denim evoke the comforting, worn softness of a beloved teddy bear. Some fabrics are light and transparent, cut on the bias, creating a fluid sense of movement. The denim pieces reflect a sense of timelessness, with creases preserved as if the garments are frozen in time, creating an illusion of permanence and transformation.
The accessories and footwear of the collection continue to play with contrasts and nostalgia. Soft, padded felt boots draw inspiration from the construction of a soft toy, while heels are sliced with peep-toe elements or reimagined in warped leather. The menswear-inspired footwear, like the broken penny loafer transformed into a boot or heel, adds an element of surprise. The new Camero Hotel bag, along with the debut of the Multipocket bucket bag and updated accessories, further emphasize the luxurious textures and bold design elements, including jewelry pieces resembling office desk items and oversized aviator sunglasses.
