Viktor&Rolf Fall/Winter 2025 / FW25 RTW during Paris Fashion Week
Viktor&Rolf’s inspiration comes from both the past and the present. This shift toward everyday dressing is about movement – creating clothes to be lived in, whether transitioning from work to dinner or simply walking the dog. It’s couture reimagined for daily life, infused with their signature ‘Minimal Baroque’ aesthetic. For the Viktor&Rolf FW25 / Fall/Winter 2025 RTW collection, the brand bring their couture expertise to everyday fashion. Known for their bold and conceptual designs, this collection blends abstraction with wearability, reimagining classic wardrobe staples through sculptural deconstruction. Drawing inspiration from the striking forms of the Fall/Winter 2024 Haute Couture collection ‘Haute Abstraction,’ it combines sharp tailoring, signature details, and rich textures with more relaxed, practical pieces like denim and a collaboration with coat maker Mackintosh. Intricate details – such as delicate tulle ruffles adding texture and volume – carry the brand’s couture heritage into the everyday. These thoughtfully designed pieces prove that everyday dressing can still feel extraordinary.
Shifting from couture to ready-to-wear was about designing for real life. Viktor&Rolf wanted to keep the bold shapes and craftsmanship of couture but make them effortless. Everyday life is full of contrasts – moving through different spaces and situations that define us. It’s not about losing bold expression but using it to elevate the ordinary. The dramatic silhouettes of ‘Haute Abstraction’ are reimagined as something as simple as a pair of jeans, translating couture’s striking volumes into wearable designs.
Viktor&Rolf FW25 / Fall/Winter 2025 collection combines unconventional elegance with everyday wear. Bold silhouettes come to life through expert pattern-making and detailed seaming, creating standout pieces like tailored balloon trousers in Japanese tuxedo wool and a relaxed denim version. Dramatic ruffled white collars add both structure and sensuality, while the color palette moves from black, grey, and dark berry to fresh accents of white, mint, and sky-blue denim. A classic beige hue, “golden fawn,” appears in gabardine daywear, reflecting the maison’s dedication to refined wardrobe staples.
Wardrobe staples are transformed with layered, duplicating, and cloning effects, drawing on Viktor&Rolf’s archival design language. This approach, first explored in the Spring/Summer 2002 ‘White’ collection and Fall/Winter 2003 ‘One Woman Show,’ bridges the brand’s heritage with modern silhouettes. Haute Couture influences are woven throughout the collection. Draped bows are seamlessly integrated into garment patterns, creating sculptural tops, dresses, and skirts. Voluminous ruffles add a graphic yet sensual touch, while delicate tulle textures – drawn from Spring/Summer 2023 ‘Late Stage Capitalism Waltz’ Haute Couture – showcase couture craftsmanship adapted for ready-to-wear. A collaboration with heritage brand Mackintosh introduces refined outerwear, including a cropped belted jacket that reimagines traditional craftsmanship. The collection’s luxurious fabrics blend elegance with wearability, including Italian silk satin and organza, Japanese tuxedo wool, silk-viscose floral jacquard, structured yet breathable Japanese cotton gabardine, Italian virgin wool felt for outerwear, mohair and superfine alpaca knits, and organic cotton denim. The result is a collection where high fashion meets the everyday, staying true to Viktor&Rolf’s signature style – a balance of avant-garde craftsmanship and practicality, proving couture can thrive beyond the runway.
Viktor&Rolf FW25 / Fall/Winter 2025 RTW collection is captured through the lens of photographer Alessandro Furchino Capria. Set on the streets of Paris, Capria’s signature deadpan style highlights the collection’s effortless, laidback elegance. This shift from couture to everyday dressing focuses on movement – navigating life from place to place, balancing work and leisure. The images serve as a reminder that a thoughtfully curated wardrobe can elevate the everyday, adding unexpected beauty and individuality to daily life.
