David Koma Men Spring/Summer 2026 / SS26 at Berlin Fashion Week presents I LOVE DAVID
A menswear collection that blends playfulness with thoughtful introspection. The title draws from a triad of Davids: the cultural icon of David Beckham, the classical idealism of Michelangelo’s sculptural masterpiece David, and the designer David Koma himself. What begins as a tongue-in-cheek homage unfurls into a conversation on identity and modern masculinity. Through the lens of three Davids, each emblematic of a different facet of male image-making, the collection positions the male figure as both idol and individual, examining how persona and self-reflection shape the modern manhood.
David Beckham’s turn-of-the-millennium style becomes a launchpad. Low-slung, light-rinse denim is distressed to perfection. Statement outerwear – brown aged leather trenches and waxed cotton smocks lined with red shearling – channels paparazzi-era fashion moments. A playfullydefiant T-shirt, emblazoned with an appliquĂ© and rhinestoneI LOVE DAVID, offers a homage to Beckham’s iconic I KISS FOOTBALL jersey.
Michelangelo’s David emerges as another visual anchor. His sculptural presence is mirrored in draped T-shirts that fold across the body with the elegance of marble. ‘Souvenir’ aprons, traditionally playful and often risquĂ©, are subverted and reworked in luxurious lace crochet. Graphic motifs inspired by the statue appear throughout, treating the body as a canvas.
David Koma’s own signature is deeply embedded in the collection. The recurring garter detail reappears as delicate crystal and rivet straps or as enlarged houndstooth intarsia on knit, while distinctive detachable waistband belts are seen across jeans. Classic tailoring, central to the designer’s wardrobe, is elevated through unexpected surface treatments: sequined pinstripes, all-over plexi disc embroidery, and tulle tuxedo stripe panels that pool with intentional elegance.
A hibiscus motif, inspired by the designer’s summer travels, is transformed into couture-level embellishment, appearing as intricate sequin and bullion embroidery across a fully adorned pair of surf shorts. Giant hand-embroidered brooches bloom on lapels, gracing both refined eveningwear and everyday pieces, transcending occasion.
David Koma Men SS26 / Spring/Summer 2026, Now in its third season, the menswear line carves deeper into the brand’s identity, refining its language while embracing bolder gestures. With I Love David, the narrative of the Koma man continues to evolve. He is a figure of dualities: ornate yet understated, serious yet self-aware, commanding yet tender. He is unapologetically expressive, instinctively modern, and always in motion. More than a wardrobe, Koma presents a mirror, reflecting the layered, ever-shifting image of what it means to be a man today.
