Maldito Paris Fall/Winter 2025 – 2026 / FW25 at Paris Couture Week
Maldito Paris made its long-awaited debut at Paris Fashion Week yesterday, the 7th, with the “Quasí Couture” show. The presentation marked a special chapter in the career of Francisco Terra, the label’s creative director, who has been with the label for 15 years and returns to the Paris catwalks with a new signature, now with a fictional, queer and transmedia approach. The show opened the official calendar of Paris Fashion Week Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2025 – 2026, in one of the most performative moments of the season.
The label is the brainchild of Francisco Terra, who founded Neith Nyer (an Andam Fashion Awards finalist in the Creative Label Award category in 2018, and subsequently discontinued) with stints at Givenchy and Carven, and showed for the first time at Paris Fashion Week, although it was created in 2021. Maldito Paris is more than a brand: it’s a queer and transmedia intellectual property born from the comic book “Maldito”, starring a Latin anti-hero in existential crisis. The comic, currently in its second edition published in France, serves as a creative platform for fashion shows, costumes, collaborations and capsule collections that sell out in weeks.
For Maldito Paris FW25 / Fall/Winter 2025 – 2026, Francisco Terra celebrates 15 years of creation with a parade of memories and metamorphosis in Paris. Among embroidered uniforms, dreamlike silhouettes and echoes of carnival, Maldito Paris revisits the creative director’s Brazilian youth in a visual tale of desire, fantasy and reinvention. After several seasons developing hybrid projects and more confidential collections, Francisco Terra was keen to celebrate 15 years of creation with an anniversary show. A sort of debutante’s ball, with the silhouettes he has developed over the course of his artistic career.
The beam of a motorcycle’s headlights rips through the Parisian night. Maldito speeds through the city, his tears blown away after the first ball of his life… This collection is a fantasized rewriting of memories linked to his youth in Brazil in the form of a gothic tale. “We follow the evening of a young person who comes home from school and prepares for an exceptional party,” says Francisco. “Iel rolls around jogging in his sheets, letters and drawings from his diary before setting off on a motorcycle to Paris, where iel is greeted by rats and cool kids.”
“I started with my school uniform, on which I embroidered an ‘M’ in reference to the first telenovela I ever watched: Hilda Furacão,” he explains. The series tells the story of a young middle-class woman who leaves home to become a sex worker, before falling madly in love with a priest. “The lingerie, which featured prominently in the series’ outfits, left a lasting impression on my imagination, and the idea that undergarments have extraordinary power.”
In collection, bridges are created between French know-how and carnival costumes. Corset briefs and lace overflow their frames to become teeming couture pieces. The metal underwires of bras take flight in circumvolutions and are embellished with veiling. The modeling work was carried out with the designer’s partner, Peter Jitenski. The excessive application of rhinestones also evokes the embellishment techniques used by samba dancers. Recycled carnival ribbons were used to create feathers.
This fashion show is part of the approach initiated by Francisco Terra with the Maldito project, where clothing, manga and objects cohabit in a total artistic project. Maldito Paris FW25 / Fall/Winter 2025 – 2026 show was developed in collaboration with Brazilian shoe brand Melissa, Camila Pedroza and Brazilian haute couture house Helô Rocha, with a reinterpretation of the debutante dress. The jewelry was designed by “Betty Brand” and the Angora pieces by a friend of the designer, “Chau Rising”. Also collaborating with the collection: Domestique, B.Bamboo and Squillace 1923.
About Maldito Paris, Maldito Paris is an intellectual property that blends the rigor of French haute couture with the freedom of Brazilian pop culture. Maldito is the main character in the comic book series of the same name, created by artists Francisco Terra and Nicolas Courgeon, which is already in its second edition in France. The work is an ode to love and horror, and its story is the genesis of a transdisciplinary project that brings fashion into dialogue with the visual arts. Founded in 2021 with the launch of capsule collections, sold out at online sales and pop-up events, Maldito Paris has already collaborated with names such as Christian Louboutin, Jean Paul Gaultier and Untitlab, with collections also sold out in less than 60 days. Their creations start from teenage obsessions such as boy bands to investigate queer identity through icons from the 90s, folklore, soap operas and the dilemmas of contemporary and queer youth. The brand has already created unique costumes for artists such as SZA, Solange Knowles, Isis Valverde, Urias (cover of Vogue Brazil), Duda Beat, Miley Cyrus, Dakota Schiffer (RuPaul’s Drag Race UK), attracting fans all over the world. Now, for the first time, Maldito is opening its doors to selected boutiques around the world (China, South Korea, Germany, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Hungary, England, Taiwan, Japan, France, Montenegro).
