Kettel Atelier Spring/Summer 2026 / SS26 at Copenhagen Fashion Week
At Copenhagen Fashion Week, Kettel Atelier transported audiences into a dreamlike world with its Spring/Summer 2026 presentation titled Unravel. Eschewing the traditional runway, the label—founded by designer Laura Tønder—unveiled its collection through a living installation where fashion, art, and sustainability interwove seamlessly. The space became a canvas, with models moving through it like brushstrokes, each look telling a story stitched from the past and reimagined for the present.
For SS26, Kettel Atelier deepened its commitment to tactile storytelling by evolving its signature use of vintage home textiles and deadstock fabrics into delicate lacework and intricate knits. Dresses were constructed to celebrate the feminine silhouette—some soft and sheer, others layered and sculptural—all unified by a gentle tension between fragility and structure. Lace sourced from flea markets and antique linens was reworked into gossamer gowns, while hand-knitted elements added texture and warmth, evoking a sense of intimacy and nostalgia.
What sets Kettel Atelier apart is its deeply personal, intuitive design process. Tønder, who describes her method as collage-like, drapes fabric directly onto mannequins, working organically—without rigid plans—until a form emerges. This process honors spontaneity and imperfection: a small stain, a tear, or a misaligned thread becomes a meaningful detail rather than a flaw. Each piece is one-of-a-kind, carrying the fingerprints of its history, transformed by a contemporary eye and a respectful hand.
Kettel Atelier SS26 / Spring/Summer 2026 collection is more than a display of beautiful clothing—it’s a manifesto for emotional sustainability. In an industry dominated by speed and replication, Kettel Atelier stands as a quiet, powerful voice for slow fashion, where garments are not just worn but felt. Through “Unravel,” Tønder reminds us that fashion can be a form of memory, a vessel for art, and a radical act of care—for the body, for craft, and for the planet.
