HARUNOBUMURATA Spring/Summer 2026 / SS26 at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo entitled “ YOUR SILENT WATERFALL ”.
The HARUNOBUMURATA Spring/Summer 2026 Collection begins with a reflection on our relationship with nature. Focusing on elements of color, light, and movement, the collection embraces the ever-changing beauty of water, mist, rivers, and waterfalls evoking an image of a woman who cherishes nature and lives gracefully in the city. At the center of the venue stands an installation a artificial yet tranquil waterfall, also reminiscent of a cloud. This piece, with its white cascade cutting through the inorganic scaffolding is an impermanent sculpture that symbolizes the season’s collection awakening memories of confronting nature’s grandeur.
The first look features an astonishingly light organza, layered meticulously by hand to create soft, ambiguous outlines like mist fading into the air, gradually tinged with color. The show opens with a dress that captures the play of shadow and light born from the fabric and its wearer, revealing infinite hues within a transparent gradient. Raffia fringes evoke cascading water, expressing a beauty that transforms with each movement, like fleeting splashes. Styled alongside Tencel cashmere sweatpants, whose natural randomness recalls the fluidity of water flowing between rocks, the looks project passing moments of ephemeral beauty.
This season also marks the brand’s first use of denim. Each piece undergoes more than 20 hours of hand-smocking, giving the fabric a rich mass that softens dramatically through intense washing. The stitchwork creates diverse textures within a single material, transforming a deeply everyday textile into a tribute to an unattainable ideal of nature. Oversized sets, made from fluid viscose, move lightly with the body. A color palette derived from the spectrum of light soft blues, pale pinks, yellows, and greens is delicately layered, translating the transient beauty of nature into a quiet expression of everyday life.
A skirt crafted in collaboration with Shoraku Asano, a Kyoto-based weaving atelier with over 100 years of expertise, was inspired by the unexpected beauty found on the reverse side of an obi weave. The flowing silver threads are imagined as streams of water, and this scene is subtly woven into the styling. This appreciation for simplicity, spiritual depth, and inherently Japanese aesthetics resonates deeply with HARUNOBUMURATAʼ s vision of luxury.
HARUNOBUMURATA SS26 / Spring/Summer 2026 collection aims to capture those moments when intangible beauty takes form through the presence of the wearer. By translating the awe one feels in nature’s grandeur – or the quiet richness of time spent on engawa – into a wardrobe for urban life, HARUNOBUMURATA continues its pursuit of true elegance.
