MAREA Fall/Winter 2026 / FW26 at Milan Fashion Week entitled Poltronissima
For MAREA FW26 / Fall/Winter 2026 season, MAREA presents POLTRONISSIMA: a reflection on the act of looking and being looked at.
The origin of the collection is a theatrical archive. Not as nostalgia, but as a system. Stage costumes, objects built for performance, are removed from their spectacular function and brought back to everyday life. Through upcycling, MAREA reinterprets them as living matter: it cuts, moves, reassembles. The costume becomes clothing. POLTRONISSIMA is a theater stalls: a seemingly passive place. Sitting down means choosing a perspective. The MAREA FW26 / Fall/Winter 2026 woman goes to the theater—but not to watch, to observe, to analyze, to exist in space.
Silhouettes oscillate between structure and abandon. Theatrical volumes are disciplined; Bourgeois elements are destabilized. Casual drapes are actually precisely constructed. Layers reminiscent of costume reveal sartorial rigor. The materials—recovered, transformed, reactivated—retain traces of their previous lives. Upcycling is not ethical decoration, but a design method: a process that questions value, memory, and permanence. The palette recalls theatrical environments: deep reds, matte blacks, muted powders, metallic flashes like reflections of stage lighting. The collection questions the idea of role. Who watches? Who plays? Where does the stage end and reality begin?
With POLTRONISSIMA, MAREA continues its investigation of identity and transformation. The dress does not represent a character. It is a critical tool. The MAREA woman does not occupy the stage. She defines it.
