Isabel Marant Men Spring/Summer 2027 / SS27 at Paris Fashion Week
As Kim Bekker, Isabel Marant’s Creative Director, worked on her Marant Men Spring/Summer 2027 collection, she was thinking about a wardrobe which is created from all over the world—Seoul to Ibiza; Los Angeles to Tangiers; Amsterdam to Arizona—before it comes back home, wherever home may be. “The idea was to show how there can be so many aspects to a guy’s style,” says Bekker. “He has been everywhere and picked up pieces from here and there as he has travelled all around the globe. And they’re pieces which have lasted—and which will always be relevant.”
Isabel Marant Men SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 collection is about style when you accumulate what you love—and how anyone can put a look together from it that will feel personal and meaningful to them. Bekker focusses it on a layered silhouette, cut straight yet still close to the body, mixing easy, tailored pieces with those which have a more athletic vibe, in shades of sand, brown, rust, red, green, and the blues of chambray and denim.
Details of Isabel Marant Men SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027, It’s the story of a softly crumpled shirt-like jacket worn with crisp pleat-front twill trousers, a tangle of cord belts at the waist; a weathered snap-fastening leather jacket or roomy utility blouson over jeans which are meant to be worn and loved forever; and, the washed, faded grungy plaid shirts, and the striped T-shirts, are Marant classics designed to go with just about everything. The label’s iconic knitwear also makes an appearance: cosy, folksy, and artisanal, including a bold colour-blocked sweater inspired by one Bekker found in the archive from a 2018 women’s collection. All of this is worn with a new graphic running shoe style sneaker, the TK, and jewellery—lots of jewellery; it can be bohemian, look like it was found while on the road, or an heirloom that has been passed down through the generations, father to son, reflecting the more age-inclusive way Bekker is seeing Marant.
Given how individualistic all of this is, so too is the cast of men who’re wearing the collection in images photographed by Brett Lloyd: French designer Bachir Mbaye; Italian artist Tito Rapetti; the french singer, composer and producer Hervé; Swiss model Jesse Rinderknecht; and, Nuno Marques, a Portuguese artist. They intentionally feel like intimate glimpses into their everyday existences. “We wanted to show guys in their own world,“ says Bekker. “Everything in the collection feels like it was pulled from real life, so it felt right to show it on men who are just as real, and who live their own real lives.”
