Hed Mayner Spring/Summer 2027 / SS27 at Paris Fashion Week
A cleansing of the silhouette. This season, Hed Mayner SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 refines the sculptural, roomy vocabulary for which he is known. The mood is agile; a blouson in technical cotton pushed back under the elbows, its drawstrings left to dangle. The mood is spontaneous; a sharp shouldered double-breasted jacket buttoned once. The mood is brevity; wide legged pants pool at the ankle.
Minimalism in shape, maximalism in touch. The look is direct, confident and deep in the everyday: tops, bottoms, shoes. Fabric as a kind of ground zero. Textured pieces in crackled paint or matte vegan leather smack against supple jute, chalk-coated cotton, plisse linen. The sensation is of the clean and the crafty, the earthy and the ethereal crashing together.
Feeling confident, feeling great, feeling beautiful. The Hed Mayner wardrobe is now well established: gesture is cut into the sleeves of tailoring so they jut forward at speed. The face is framed by a shawl collar. The hems on things swing with esprit. The focus is always on clothes as an extension of the body, an invitation. The sensation of wearing them and sliding through the city.
What was once extreme is now easy. Even in this rough, relentless heat, there is something about dressing up fast and at random, which creates a startling elegance all of its own. Here an ultra-compact cotton knit is placed under a short jacket or pulled snuggly over a broad cut t-shirt. Pants are gathered at the waist and tied swiftly. Strips of fabric bounce off the body on striped shirting; matte jacquard stripe on suiting shimmers. The memory of folds presses into clothes. Crinkled shirts are thrown on like scarves. The same garment appears with its ghost on top. These are essential pieces, full of quality and dash.
Hed Mayner Spring/Summer 2027 color palette, Pale yellow and burgundy. Rust and oat. Sky blue and cloud. And there are two shoe collaborations this season: Hed has flocked Aro’s Joaneta mesh sneaker in two colourways. Together with Sturlini he has also developed a heelless Oxford shoe with a very flat insole, soft moccasins and whipstitched canvas booties.
