As a rose blossom unfolds, whether in nature or formed by hand, it emerges gradually, petal by petal, stitch by stitch. Rooted in craft and shaped by traditions passed down through generations, it becomes a reflection of patience, care and heritage. This idea became a point of departure for the season.

The process began with an intentional act of reduction, stripping looks back to their foundations and returning to our earliest sketches, patterns and fabrics. Rather than adding, the focus was on refining, distilling each garment to its most essential form. This reduction created space for a renewed energy to emerge. Distinctive patterns, expressive prints and unexpected fabric contrasts were introduced against the discipline of traditional tailoring, creating a subtle tension between structure and spontaneity. Stripes and checks are placed alongside bold graphic prints, reinterpreting familiar codes through unexpected combinations and shifting their mood and meaning.

Ernest W. Baker SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 collection continues Ernest W. Baker’s ongoing commitment to preserving and reinterpreting time-honoured craft techniques. Handcrafted elements run throughout the collection, from crochet knitwear and driving gloves to traditional Portuguese braided leather fishing shoes. Building on the foundation established in the previous Fall/Winter collection, two total looks have also been developed using Swarovski embellishment techniques, continuing an exploration of surface, texture and handwork.

The result is a collection that balances tradition and experimentation, heritage and renewal. Like a rose blossom unfolding over time, it reveals itself gradually through craft, detail and a continual return to what is essential.
