Kolor Spring/Summer 2027 / SS27 at Paris Fashion Week entitled Aliens

Kolor Spring/Summer 2027, entitled “Aliens,” explores the idea that people are constantly living alongside others who are different from themselves. Rather than depicting extraterrestrial life, Creative Director Taro Horiuchi uses the concept of “aliens” as a metaphor for the unfamiliarity that exists between neighbors, family members, lovers, and even within ourselves. The collection suggests that if humanity were viewed from beyond Earth, distinctions such as nationality, race, culture, and language would appear far less significant than we often believe. Through this perspective, the collection encourages empathy, curiosity, and connection across differences.

Kolor SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 collection is also a celebration of international collaboration. Born in Japan and educated in Belgium, Horiuchi brought together artists and creatives from different cultural backgrounds to shape the project. The runway soundtrack was created in collaboration with the Taiwanese experimental band MONG TONG, while the textile patterns were developed with Greece-based artist Klaus Schmidt. The graphic artworks featured throughout the collection were created by Chinese-born, Japan-based painter Yang Bo. These collaborations reflect the collection’s central message: meaningful creativity can emerge even between people who may never fully understand one another.

Presented during Paris Fashion Week Men’s Spring/Summer 2027 on June 27, 2026, the collection marks Horiuchi’s second season as Creative Director of Kolor. While remaining faithful to the brand’s signature identity, Kolor SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 introduces a lighter and more effortless interpretation of Kolor’s renowned layered styling. Technical fabrics are combined with lightweight cotton, nylon, and traditional tailoring, creating rich contrasts in texture while maintaining comfort and functionality for warmer seasons.

Visually, the collection is defined by a restrained yet sophisticated color palette of gray, black, beige, olive, and blue, punctuated by occasional bright accents. Relaxed yet precisely tailored silhouettes include utilitarian jackets, wide-leg trousers, and versatile outerwear. Signature Kolor details such as asymmetrical panels, hybrid garment construction, and the combination of contrasting fabrics, add depth and complexity without overwhelming the overall design. The result is a collection that feels innovative while remaining highly wearable.

Taro Horiuchi, born in Tokyo in 1982, brings a distinctive multidisciplinary perspective to Kolor. After studying photography in the United Kingdom, he earned a Master’s degree in Fashion Design from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. Before joining Kolor in 2026, he founded the brands TARO HORIUCHI and th products, developing a design philosophy rooted in tailoring while integrating elements of sportswear, workwear, and military clothing. Through Kolor SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027, Horiuchi demonstrates his commitment to balancing functionality with creativity, using fashion as a medium to explore identity, collaboration, and the shared humanity that exists beyond cultural boundaries.
