Villa Albertine has announced the 60 artists and thinkers selected for its 2027 residency program, marking the fifth anniversary of an initiative that has already given rise to over a hundred works and deepened cultural ties between France and the United States.

Built around one founding idea: the freedom to explore, the program sends each resident to immerse themselves for one to three months in the American landscape, engaging with its realities and its people. Among this edition’s selected artists, haute couture enters Villa Albertine for the first time, with Clara Daguin.

About Clara Daguin, Born in France and raised in the Silicon Valley, Clara Daguin grew up between two cultures and ways of thinking and creating. A graduate of the California College of the Arts and ENSAD Paris, she founded her Maison in 2017 following her participation in the International Festival of Fashion & Photography in Hyères. At the heart of her work is light, which she uses as a material in its own right. Her pieces integrate electronics into textiles to create a living, reactive second skin, blending the rigor of haute couture with the precision of engineering. An aesthetic that is entirely her own, and deeply Franco-American.

Her residency project, Clara Daguin will travel to Los Angeles and San Francisco to explore the connections between embroidery and neuro-robotics, the bio-hacking scene and advances in wearable tech. Her research will focus on how the artisanal hand gesture is transformed in the age of brainmachine interfaces, culminating in the creation of a visual manifesto. A project that, like her work as a whole, questions our relationship to technology, craft and our bodies.
