Aelis Couture Fall/Winter 2026-2027 / FW26 at Paris Haute Couture Week entitled INTO THE WILD
Self-awareness, independence, encountering the freedom of action. Uncertainty, fragility, overcoming the fear of acceptance. Grace, hope, recognizing the power of rebellion. The harmonious pursuit of contrast in creation and the visual expression of that very pursuit define the dynamic driving the new AELIS season. Recognizing the subtle voice that whispers of the unease inherent in living things fuels the desire to reveal an act in light of the consequences it generates.
In the 2020s, the desire for the new is relentless, weaving through the rapid pace that shapes our sensory experiences; A speed that sparks interest yet squanders both tangible and intangible resources. The ability to focus and analyze information is being eclipsed by a capacity for superficial understanding often overlooking the fact that the subconscious records this data, reprocessing what was “grasped superficially” and transforming it into an expression of will. Sofia explores the impact of color and the nuances that blur the contours of the garments. Dresses evoke a melting iceberg, where icy blue blends with translucent white highlights and petrol black. Ethereal dusty pink intensifies and layers, building the volume of weightless gowns. Black tulle and long hair-like fringes veil the collection’s creations, lending a dramatic, dark edge to the garments.
For Aelis Couture FW26 / Fall/Winter 2026-2027, AELIS collaborates with the Grand Palais RMN’s “Atelier de Moulage”, reflecting on the disruptive element, the unexpected, by creating fragments that incorporate the Maison’s precious organic silks. The theme of materiality evolves into trompe-l’œil experimentation: Sofia works with Arnaud Briand to revisit the draping of Roman commanders’ togas, using it as a starting point to reflect on support and power. The plaster used for the sculpture is mass-dyed with black pigment, resulting in a material reminiscent of concrete. Sofia creates a lead-colored duchesse satin dress, lined with organic hemp, structured around a fragment of Roman statuary drapery; a “fibula” rests upon the garment like a piece of Brutalist architecture. AELIS continues its valued partnership with the Paris Opera and Christine Neumeister. This creative exchange gives rise to delicate dresses that highlight the beauty of fait-à-main (handmade) craftsmanship and the importance of upcycling.
Details of Aelis Couture FW26 / Fall/Winter 2026-2027, The color palette and fabrics range from the black velvet Sofia favors to shades of porcelain pink; the latter forms light, unexpected volumes in a short dress made of ethereal organza, the result of Japanese experimentation with polymers transformed into threads as fine as a web-like material ,weighing 5g per square meter. Les Intéressantes offers upcycled jewelry pieces that rest delicately upon and intertwine with the hair and the dresses of AELIS’s muses, who serve as ambassadors for the Maison’s message, casted by Julie Doidy.
This time, the exploration of material focuses on living matter and keratin: hair, wool, and feathers form the basis of an upcycling initiative designed to prompt reflection on practices in need of profound change. A gown of antique-pink silk tulle cradles long strands of hair, a gift from Henry Olivier, within its tiny pleats. Silvia Barcucci gracefully embroiders them onto the fragile tulle. While faux furs pollute due to petroleum-derived polymers bonded with plant-based substances, natural materials like wool and hair increasingly originate from the mass-market food and textile industries. Nature has long been considered property in legal systems around the world and treated as a resource. The rights of nature movement advances laws recognizing nature’s independent right to exist, thrive, and regenerate.
Meeting Morgane Joffredo of Amnesty International during the screening of the film “Yintah” allowed Sofia to delve deeper into the courageous struggle of the Wet’suwet’en , an Indigenous people of Canada, against the destruction of their lands for a gas pipeline project, and to learn about how they have been criminalized for their non-violent attempts to defend the lands they inhabit in symbiosis with plants and animals. In June 2026, the small Canadian town of Terrasse-Vaudreuil recognized the tree in its bylaws as a living being that possesses—above all else—the right to exist. The small town is the first municipality in Canada to sign the Universal Declaration of the Rights of Trees.
