Marimekko Spring/Summer 2027 / SS27 at Copenhagen Fashion Week. The collection explores the landscape through print, color and form – highlighting the poetry of dressing.

The runway show unfolds at the historic Langelinieskuret, where Marimekko transforms a concrete communal dining table on the rooftop of a former customs house into a runway. The setting reflects Marimekko’s overarching theme for 2027: The art, the artist, and the landscape. The runway presentation blends the poetry of dressing with an original soundscape by Finnish artist and vocalist Ringa Manner amidst the striking waterfront landscape of Copenhagen’s Øresund, tying up the conceptual theme.

For SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027, Marimekko draws inspiration from desert landscapes and its expressive forms and colors in the world of art, creating a compelling balance between softness and strength, nature and abstraction. The palette evokes shifting terrains: the freshness of summer greenery merges with soft lilacs and vivid pinks ranging from raspberry to azalea, while sky blues meet heated yellows, fiery reds and sunlit oranges. These saturated tones are tempered by a selection of barely-there shades, including pear sorbet, vanilla ice and snow white.

“The Spring/Summer 2027 collection presents a poetic take on the lightness of summer, evidenced through English embroidery, textured pointelle and organic outlines as a juxtaposition to the richness of color and volume in the collection. The poetry of dressing meets with a more conceptual take on viewing florals and stripes through the lens of the landscape and drawing from the world of art to shape new forms, silhouettes and ideas”, says Rebekka Bay, Creative Director.

Marimekko SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 collection offers an unexpected lens to the landscape through print and form: Peplum cuts, bold ruffles, and airy volants echo petal-like formations that mimic the surrealism of the landscape, while seasonal prints evoke nature’s own artistry in abstract form. A new striped print Akkorder by Danish textile artist Vibeke Rohland takes form as a vertical composition reminiscent of the dreaminess of the late summer night sky and the optimism of the peak summer sunrise. Marimekko prints have historically celebrated the overlap of colors, resulting in a third shade. Rohland’s stripe offers a new take on this idea with an intentional space left uncolored between each color. Recent Marimekko floral print additions Kukasta kukkaan and Kukasta toiseen by Finnish print designer Erja Hirvi create a playful dialogue between minimal and maximal expression, echoing the print’s versatility across flowy dresses, newly launched leather bags and on laser-printed denim among other styles in the collection.
