Simjae wears Stone Island Mineral Dyed Cotton Gabardine-TC Jacket Q100045 from Autumn_Winter ‘026-‘027

August 11th 2026 – In the context of the ‘Community as a Form of Research’ project, Photographer and Hugan Books Founder, Simjae, wears Q100045 MINERAL DYED COTTON GABARDINE-TC, a standout piece from the Stone Island AW ‘026- ‘027 collection.

This hooded jacket, made partly from regenerated cotton gabardine and featuring vertical snap pockets, is dyed with inorganic coloured pigments based on iron oxides derived from industrial processes. An elbow “patch” referencing the early days of Stone Island is printed using the same dye recipe. Inspired by the uneven and chalky aspect of a sand storm, garments in this collection segment are “dusted” through mineral dyeing to achieve a powdery look. The mineral dyeing process further expresses the collection’s focus on the element of ‘soil’, translating the element’s natural tones and textures into a distinctive garment treatment.

Simjae wears Q100045 MINERAL DYED COTTON GABARDINE-TC STONE ISLAND. Hooded jacket made from a fabric composed of 60% recycled cotton yarn and 40% conventional cotton. Cotton scraps from the Stone Island production chain are selected and reprocessed to obtain new blended yarns, containing at least 50% recovered material. The fabrics derived from this elaborate recovery and regeneration process are used to create new garments. Garment dyed with inorganic coloured pigments based on iron oxides derived from industrial processes. The oxides are blended to produce a distinctive chromatic range, characterised by soft, natural tones. The fabric’s heavy and densely woven structure enhances the vintage effect generated by the treatment.
