Nicklas Skovgaard Spring/Summer 2027 / SS27 at Copenhagen Fashion Week presents COLLECTION 13 on August 6th, 2026.
For Collection 13, Nicklas Skovgaard looks to the iconic girl groups of the 1960s as both emotional and conceptual departure, drawing inspiration from The Supremes, The Shangri-Las, and The Ronettes. At a moment when youth culture was only beginning to emerge as a visible cultural force, these groups shaped distinct expressions of femininity through clothing, styling, music, and attitude.
For this season, Skovgaard imagines his own fictional girl group: The Skovgaardettes. The collection unfolds through a series of miniature wardrobes, each consisting of three looks. Every trio forms its own visual identity through material, color, and silhouette while contributing to the rhythm of the collection as a whole.
This idea extends beyond the garments. In collaboration with Danish music platform Brodie Sessions, the presentation introduces a contemporary girl group through a live performance by True Blue, the musical project of Maya Laner. Curated specifically for the show, the performance becomes an integral part of the collection’s narrative.
Nicklas Skovgaard SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 collection continues Nicklas Skovgaard’s exploration of material contrasts through a sequence of evolving wardrobes. Gingham appears first as both structure and decoration before giving way to crisp taffetas in powder blue, pale pink, and soft grey, culminating in pastel floral jacquards. Classical silhouettes are reworked through unexpected fabrications, while circular-cut skirts place renewed emphasis on the waist, creating volumes that feel both sculptural and fluid.
The styling continues this dialogue between romance and functionality through a continued collaboration with HOFF, whose sneakers return from last season as an unexpected counterpart to the collection’s silhouettes. Bags created with HVISK, including an oversized clasp bag designed by Nicklas Skovgaard in colors developed exclusively for the collection, further define each imagined group’s identity. Makeup, created in partnership with Danish beauty brand Miild, the official beauty partner for the show, further defines each imagined group’s identity. Developed together with lead makeup artist Marie Thomsen, the beauty direction reinterprets the graphic cosmetic language of 1960s girl groups through a contemporary lens. “This collection is about the power of belonging while still insisting on individuality,” says Nicklas Skovgaard. “I’ve always been fascinated by how these girl groups created a collective identity where every member still had her own presence.”
Staged in a parking lot in Copenhagen’s Nordhavn district, Nicklas Skovgaard SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 presentation sees each imagined girl group arrive together in vintage cars before entering the runway. Casting is directed by Emma Matell, with movement direction by long-term collaborator Britt Liberg. Through The Skovgaardettes, Collection 13 celebrates the many ways femininity can be expressed – individually and collectively – where glamour, emotion, and self-expression coexist.
