China Fashion Week 2026 Grand Opening
On September 3rd, Ruizhe Sun, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, officially declared the 2026 edition of China Fashion Week open. A milestone celebrated by a national fashion gala that drew more than 600 distinguished guests. Among them were representatives from government ministries, industry councils, Beijing municipal officials, business executives, media, foreign diplomats and brand delegates, alongside celebrities, influencers and buyers, all gathered to mark three decades of the platform’s evolution.
This anniversary edition carries particular weight for the city hosting it. The event supports Beijing’s ambition to become an international consumption hub, anchored by world premieres, debut shows and exhibitions that together build a complete value chain one that connects creative launches, industry collaboration and market conversion, carrying fashion’s creative energy from the runway spotlight into the broader marketplace. That ambition is visible across the city itself. Designers, brand representatives, industrial cluster leaders and journalists are converging on Beijing’s fashion core, where iconic venues including the 798 Art District, Beijing Exhibition Center, CAFA Art Museum and Longfu Cultural Centre will host presentations spanning menswear, womenswear, couture and functional outdoor wear throughout the week at China Fashion Week 2026.
The week’s momentum was set from its opening moments. VICUTU, a premium Chinese menswear brand, presented the highly anticipated opening runway show, with global ambassador Haoran Liu gracing the presentation and unveiling a limited co-created collection developed in close collaboration with the brand.
The premiere drew a constellation of celebrities, including Wenjun Bi, Lu Hai and Yibing Chen, underscoring the scale of attention now commanded by China Fashion Week. Spanning eight days, this season’s China Fashion Week brings together more than 220 brands from four continents, showcasing everything from debut collections to trade matchmaking, from runway shows to urban commercial districts, and from cultural heritage revival to digital fashion innovation. Together, these elements paint a complete picture of China’s fashion industry ecosystem, fueling high-quality industrial growth and reinforcing Beijing’s ambitions as an international hub for consumption.
Yet the week’s innovation extends beyond the garments themselves to the commercial model behind them. Picture a model taking her first steps down the runway, and before the show concludes, the outfit is already available for purchase. This is the essence of “see-now-buy-now”: presentation and transaction converging into a single, seamless moment. In this way, fashion week is evolving from a trade-only event into a nationwide consumer celebration, where the moment you watch the show is the moment you can place your order.
That evolution reaches its conclusion at the week’s final event, the International Consumption Trends Conference, which translates this season’s creative inspirations into concrete business logic, building an industrial ecosystem platform that integrates exhibitions, idea exchanges and business matching.
Thirty editions on, this biannual industry gala is no longer merely a window for collection launches and brand showcases. It has grown into a strategic home ground where China’s fashion sector voices its confidence, sets industry norms and exports cultural values, standing on this ground, and letting its creations speak for themselves.
