Soduk Spring/Summer 2027 / SS27 at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo entitled “0018” LOVE. Finding Love in Everyday Life.

For SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027, SODUK designer Tsukasa Kido explores a quiet and often overlooked form of love found in everyday life. The idea began with something as ordinary as preparing dinner from whatever happens to be left in the refrigerator—turning what is already there into something good as an act of care. Inspired by Yasujiro Ozu’s Early Summer, Kido reflects on how every form of everyday life eventually comes to an end, while suggesting that love is not only about being loved by others, but also about how we choose to treat ourselves. For Kido, working with his hands has become almost meditative, offering a sense of healing while raising questions about responsibility, making, and the many clothes we produce.

This reflection led Kido to explore ways of extending the life of garments through dyeing and embroidery, transforming the act of making into both a creative practice and a way of clearing the mind. His journey also brought him closer to Okinawa, where he was born but had struggled to understand his relationship with the place. Traditional crafts offered another perspective, connecting techniques with the people and histories that have been built slowly over generations. Through Kakazu-san of Ryukyu Indigo Laboratory, Kido became fascinated by Ryukyu indigo and its natural transformation when exposed to air, as the blue gradually deepens. The process became a reminder to notice ordinary things more closely, remain playful, and stay curious about what remains unknown.

The same spirit extends through SODUK SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 collaborations and presentation. For the first time, SODUK worked with Orion Beer in Okinawa, while Kido developed designs with Morio Deguchi and Gen Katsurasawa and created T-shirts featuring photographs taken during his returns to Okinawa. Taichi Yamane customized KEEN shoes, Yunbomu added new graphics to garments Kido had dyed himself, and a hoodie reveals a new side of ZZZ. Yoshiaki Takahashi designed the space using materials from Way of Things, giving previously used objects another life, while Ochi-kun of DILIGENCE PARLOUR prepared a single flower and KID FRESINO created the music for the day. Together, these encounters turn the collection into a gathering of people, materials, memories and shared creativity.

Rather than presenting love as something grand or romantic, SODUK SS27 understands it through small acts of care: cooking a meal, repairing a garment, making something by hand, looking after an object, remembering a place, or simply doing something for yourself. These gestures become a quiet expression of love and a way of continuing, even when continuing is difficult. Through “LOVE,” Tsukasa Kido transforms the ordinary into something meaningful, suggesting that perhaps love exists not in spectacular moments, but in the small things we do to keep ourselves and one another going.
