ENFÖLD Spring/Summer 2027 / SS27 at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo
The first day of Fashion Week was brought to a close with a runway by ENFÖLD, designed by Mizuki Ueda. Last season ENFÖLD made a strong debut at Fashion Week as a brand beloved by a more mature crowd of women. In ENFÖLD SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 collection, the brand focused on architectural structures to highlight unique silhouettes, capturing the theme “WRAPPING STRUCTURE.” Designer Ueda commented on her thought process, stating “I love looking at architecture and often travel abroad to see it. I thought that if I delved deep into the inner workings of architecture, it would result in interesting layering.
By layering sheer fabrics over outfits, or overlaying graphics evokitive of the body’s contours, ENFÖLD SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 collection reimagined the three major components of architecture: internal structures, framework, and exterior. The thematic elements served as a metaphor for the relationship between the body and clothing, referencing not only the silhouette of a building but also revealing what lies within. The brand’s characteristic vibrant colors carried over from its launch into this latest collection. Drawing inspiration from the works of Mexican architect Luis Barragán, the collection adopted a color palette that boldly combined various hues of vivid pinks, blues, and yellows. The venue was the Terada Warehouse in Tennozu. Although it was a large, inorganic space with high ceilings, the brand livened up the setting by wrapping the building columns in colorful fabric—a nod to the characteristics of Barragán’s architecture.
Graphic designer Agata Yamaguchi provided the graphics for the final looks in the collection, which resembled both architectural frameworks and the blood vessels of the human body—organically interpreting the elements of linear architecture. The footwear was a collaboration with “goyemon,” a product brand that reimagines traditional footwear from a contemporary perspective. To echo the silhouette of the apparel, the midsole at the front was designed to protrude forward. Pairing the look with sheer tights was a signature ENFÖLD style that was not missed in the collection. Additionally, the makeup brand NARS provided backstage support, preparing models with colors to compliment the clothing—eyes were outlined in black, while blush and lip colors were kept muted, with a yellow shade of lipstick personally selected by designer Ueda.
From tucking a tie in and out of a shirt, to freely styling complementary colors, there were a multitude of practical styling tips to take away from ENFÖLD’s collection.
