“This collection is not only the outcome of time; it is the outcome of a fully intentional approach. Over the years, there have been ideas, techniques and silhouettes that live at the core of Brandon Maxwell. Looking back, I found recurring connection points to re-visit in new iterations, and this ultimately challenged me to form a clearer understanding of my work. I know that I design emotionally, and my happiest moments are when I am in the headspace of a tailor, making clothes with our fit model, Suzanne. There’s something both realistic and sincere about today’s show and the process I’ve applied leading up to it: the control that I was searching for at a younger age has mellowed. Brandon Maxwell SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027, In a space where we can pause and breathe, daylight passes through rippling water overhead. A deliberate backdrop for a collection that explores Brandon Maxwell anew, only now distilling designs to their purest and most desirable form. Elegant, meticulous tailoring applied with a lighter, freer hand. As a starting point we draw from core elements dating back to the first collection. Pants left slightly undone to reveal an inset cummerbund, handwork applied throughout, like molding and pleating that create different volumes around the body. Ideas from the past find their place again. Masculine ideas around construction are also infused into feminine silhouettes, like a hard/soft duality with an effortless edge. Subtle nods to the codes of American Sportswear appear through sophisticated details: a suit jacket in sable grain de poudre with cuts under the lapels to slide a sweater or scarf through, or a lamb leather jacket finished with the box pleat of a men’s shirt. Denim is intentionally constructed to tie casually with ease. Scattered cameos of contemporary color appear, like scarlet red pleated cropped trousers with black leather or a pale yellow nappa perforated coat. Repetition of silhouettes clarifies the message, and variation in styling offers a range of approaches. Through these notions of dressing, every day can be easy yet polished, confident and seductive all at once.

A collection in fine textiles made with great consideration and attention to detail, these are the intentions of Brandon Maxwell. Deliberately intimate, the show directs focus back to the process. It is a composite portrait of the women who wear the brand and the clothes they wear as life plays out.
