Carolina Herrera returned to New York for SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027, presenting its collection on September 14 at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. The show marked 45 years of the Carolina Herrera house, bringing the anniversary celebration back to the city where Herrera first established her name in 1981.

But the collection did not feel like a formal trip through the archives. Instead, Wes Gordon worked with familiar Herrera signatures—polka dots, crisp white shirts, ruffles, red, cigarette pants, cummerbunds, and floral motifs—and gave them a lighter rhythm. These recognizable elements remained present, but the way they were combined made the clothes feel less like historical references and more like part of a contemporary wardrobe. The collection also looked directly to the house’s history through references connected to the Warhol Foundation and The New Yorker.

There was also a distinctly Mediterranean ease running through the collection. Lightweight fabrics and relaxed silhouettes brought a sense of effortless dressing, balancing the more polished elements that have long been associated with Carolina Herrera. The result was a wardrobe that could move between structure and looseness, keeping its elegance without appearing overly formal.

The highlight of Carolina Herrera SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027, One of the more memorable pieces was a paint dress inspired by Andy Warhol. The mini dress features a painted portrait of Carolina Herrera herself, with beaded fringe added along the hem. It is a playful way of bringing Herrera’s own image into the collection while connecting the house’s history with one of the artists most closely associated with New York’s cultural landscape. Rather than treating the 45th anniversary as a reason to simply revisit the past, Carolina Herrera SS27 uses its history as material for something that feels lighter and more current.
