London, 12th Sept 2026 — Tiled Reverie, a new exhibition presented as part of London Design Festival 2026, brings Taiwan’s decorative tile heritage into contemporary fashion through original graphic textile prints and art. The exhibition is a collaboration between Taiwanese fashion brand BOO and London-based Taiwanese artist Yung Hsuan Wang, also known as Walkthecatt, reimagining this visual heritage through a contemporary lens and asking what happens when traditional motifs are lifted from their architectural context and translated into a new, wearable global design narrative.

Widely seen across Taiwan in the early twentieth century, richly coloured decorative tiles introduced floral, geometric and auspicious motifs into homes and architectural spaces, transforming everyday surfaces into emblems of hope, prosperity, happiness and protection. More than decoration, they became cultural symbols carrying wishes and blessings into everyday life.

Tiled Reverie poses a simple question: what happens when a “blessing” leaves the wall and begins to move with the body? Presented alongside Yung Hsuan Wang’s original artworks, BOO’s fashion pieces recontextualise these traditions, tracing a cultural dialogue from historical imagery and artistic interpretation to contemporary graphic lines, vivid colour collisions, and wearable art. Together, the two bodies of work carry these enduring symbols into a new, living context.

This movement from architecture to the body resonates with the wider conversations shaping London Design Festival 2026, where craft revival and future-facing technologies converge, and where cultural heritage is being reconsidered through contemporary forms, materials and perspectives. Sitting between the intimate and the monumental, the handmade and the contemporary, Tiled Reverie asks how symbols rooted in place can travel across time and borders, and what new meanings they might gather along the way.
