MALLONI Spring/Summer 2027 / SS27 at Milan Fashion Week entitled A MEMORY WITHOUT NOSTALGIA

For Spring/Summer 2027, Malloni presents MÉMOIRE, a collection built around the tension between memory and transformation. The past is not faithfully reconstructed, but traversed, altered and reassembled. Heritage becomes material to be transformed: fragments of a wardrobe belonging to another time are dismantled and recomposed into a contemporary language, where imperfection becomes beauty and lived experience becomes identity.

MALLONI SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 during Milan Fashion Week, Malloni brings MÉMOIRE to the spaces of 10 Corso Como Café, transformed for the occasion into an atelier suspended between past and present. Here, the creative process is deliberately left exposed. The garment is not presented solely in its finished form, but through the gestures, experiments, layers and traces that reveal how it came into being. The presentation unfolds across three moments: Creation, Experimentation, Revelation. The first area is dedicated to Creation: tailoring mannequins tell the story of the garment’s construction through its different stages, making visible the passage from idea to form. The second is the space of Experimentation, where toile prototypes and collection pieces are juxtaposed and layered. Finished form and creative process enter into dialogue, conveying the open, experimental nature of Malloni’s research. The third area leads to Revelation: ten iconic total looks, presented on plinths, emerge as completed works at the end of a journey that has, until that moment, remained deliberately open. At the centre of the salon, a plinth dedicated to performance completes the installation, introducing a theatrical dimension and transforming the presentation into a performative experience.

MÉMOIRE is a decadent romanticism without nostalgia. The femininity portrayed by Malloni does not look to the past in order to reconstruct it, but to transform it. The past is traversed, worn down and reinterpreted. Heritage becomes living material: an imagined antique wardrobe is dismantled, fragmented and recomposed through a contemporary sensibility. The silhouette alternates between soft volumes, tailored constructions and fluid draping, moving between protection and surrender. Blazers, jackets, trousers, tops and sarongs are opened, cut and re-sewn. Jackets are deconstructed through lingerie hooks used as closures, while petal- and flower-shaped darts transform a tailoring detail into an organic gesture. The wardrobe emerges from the encounter between boudoir and power dressing. Guêpières, plastrons, ruffles, chokers and lingerie details dialogue with assertive trousers and structured garments. Elements of intimacy are removed from their private dimension and brought to the surface. Bows and ruffles become mobile elements, also worn as necklaces: details that detach themselves from the garment and take on a new function, transforming ornament into an integral part of the silhouette.

THE MATTER OF TIME, The exploration of materials amplifies the tension between past and contemporary life. Linen, cotton, silk, modal, lyocell and innovative blends meet jacquards, stripes, inlays and treated surfaces. Crumpling, overdyeing, textured crepe and laser treatments create an imperfect, tactile, lived-in materiality. The surfaces seem to preserve the memory of what they have experienced: folds, marks, alterations and transformations become part of the aesthetic language. This more rugged dimension is contrasted with tulle, chiffon and silken materials, introducing an almost spectral lightness. Gauzes, bandage-like constructions and recomposed surfaces suggest a beauty that is fragile, yet never delicate.Embroidery, fringes, appliqués and ruffles build up layers across the garments, creating a visual and tactile materiality in constant evolution. Coccarde, crafted in tulle, organza and oversized fringes, run throughout the collection as a recurring element and also appear in the jewellery. Rather than simply decorating, they accumulate meaning. They become a distinctive sign of MÉMOIRE — a presence that returns and transforms itself throughout the wardrobe.

MEMORY, ORNAMENT, TRANSFORMATION. The prints, too, look to the past without reproducing it literally. Vintage tapestries, floral motifs and nineteenth-century references are reinterpreted through distressed, scratched and worn surfaces. A painterly flower is filtered through semi-transparent jersey, while layering, pleating and embroidery introduce depth and movement. The image is never left entirely intact: it is altered, layered, filtered and recomposed, like a memory that changes shape over time. The palette begins with beige, coconut, cinnamon, warm white and black, punctuated by accents of blue, peacock and yellow. Colours and surfaces retain a lived-in quality, as if time had already intervened in the material, leaving behind traces and imperfections.

A FEMININITY IN TRANSFORMATION. MÉMOIRE portrays a femininity that does not seek perfection, but discovers its own form through everything it has experienced. It is a femininity born from the relationship between construction and dissolution, between tailoring discipline and freedom, between the desire for protection and the desire for surrender. A beauty built through layering, subtraction and recomposition. A wardrobe in which the past is not preserved, but transformed.
