Perspectives Croisées presents TIANXI during Paris Fashion Week

Perspectives Croisées presents TIANXI during Paris Fashion Week. French and Chinese Craftsmanship in Dialogue: From Technique to Creation.

On 29 September 2026, at Hôtel Le Marois in Paris, MoDesign brought together MOSSI | Ateliers Alix and TIANXI for a new edition of Perspectives Croisées. At its heart was an invitation to discover the techniques, learning processes and materials behind the finished garment. Held during Paris Fashion Week, this edition explored the relationship between craftsmanship, education and contemporary creation. It brought the teaching of couture techniques at Ateliers Alix, the school founded by designer Mossi Traoré, into dialogue with the expertise of Chinese ceremonial wear house TIANXI. Student work, garment construction details, embroidery and material samples offered guests a close look at the creative process, from technical exercises to finished silhouettes.

Ateliers Alix: Making the Transmission of Craft Visible, Ateliers Alix presented a selection of work by first-, second- and third-year students, revealing the progression of learning: understanding how a garment is constructed, mastering a technique and developing precision through practice.

The display included sleeve construction, cuff making, pockets crafted using haute couture techniques, and neckline finishes. Presented as pieces to be examined in their own right, these details drew attention to aspects of clothing that often remain unseen: the seams, internal structures and finishing choices that shape a garment’s form and quality. Through these studies, the presentation highlighted the school’s role in passing on craftsmanship through practice, repetition and close attention to detail.

TIANXI: Connecting Materials, Embroidery and Silhouette. Alongside this exploration of couture education, TIANXI showcased embroidery details, fabrics featured in its collection presentation and the gold-coloured threads used in their creation. Accompanying a presentation of silhouettes, these materials allowed guests to trace the relationship between individual techniques and the finished garment. Visitors could examine textures, the interplay of thread and light, and the details of the embroidery before discovering how they came together in the designs. This approach offered a tangible introduction to Chinese ceremonial wear, revealing both the craftsmanship behind it and the house’s contemporary interpretation of tradition.

An Encounter Shaped by Participation. Upon arrival, guests were invited to leave their signature and take part in a stamping ritual. This participatory gesture echoed the idea behind Perspectives Croisées: individual marks meeting and intersecting to form a shared story.

The experience extended the dialogue beyond the works on display. Guests were encouraged to observe different approaches, recognise a shared commitment to precision and consider the human work behind each garment. By bringing the technical studies of Ateliers Alix into conversation with TIANXI’s creations, this edition gave tangible form to the transmission of craftsmanship. It showed how a heritage of skills remains alive through teaching, practice and reinterpretation.
