Weiyin Chen Spring/Summer 2027 / SS27 during London Fashion Week. A meeting of piano, couture, flowers and the visual language of Georgia O’Keeffe: Weiyin Chen presents her SS27 collection during London Fashion Week

ANGELA BURGESS RECITAL HALL, ROYAL ACADEMY OF MUSIC, September 20th 2026. Pianist and fashion designer Weiyin Chen presents her SS27 Couture x Collection Concert during London Fashion Week, bringing together live music, fashion and visual art in an immersive presentation that explores the relationship between what we hear and what we see. Created as a celebration of music, design, and imagination, the SS27 collection draws inspiration from American artist Georgia O’Keeffe, whose distinctive approach to flowers, colour and abstraction provides the conceptual foundation for Chen’s latest collection.

The collection is framed by O’Keeffe’s words: “The idea that music could be translated into something for the eye.” and: “When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it’s your world for the moment.” For Chen, these ideas become a starting point for translating the emotional qualities of music into silhouette, colour, texture and movement. The result is a collection in which couture is conceived not simply as clothing, but as a visual interpretation of sound.

The SS27 Couture x Collection Concert also marks a celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, the place Weiyin Chen calls home, paying tribute to an American artistic icon while bringing that spirit into a distinctly contemporary London setting. O’Keeffe’s flowers and organic forms are reimagined through a palette that moves from soft lilac and botanical greens to luminous aqua, deep blue, magenta and striking red.

The collection features sculptural and fluid silhouettes, draped forms and floral interventions that echo O’Keeffe’s close up studies of nature. SS27 features distinctly flowing, elongated pieces and softly architectural dresses as well as richly coloured couture looks, creating a visual progression that mirrors the movement and emotion of a musical composition.

At the heart of Weiyin Chen SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 presentation is Chen herself as both musician and designer. The concert format allows the audience to experience the collection through two interconnected creative languages: the live performance of music and the movement of couture. A keyboard-top and harp couture piece, kept under wraps ahead of the presentation, forms part of the collection, further blurring the boundaries between musical instrument, performance and fashion object.

Rather than treating music and fashion as separate disciplines, Chen’s SS27 project proposes that the two can communicate the same emotional experience in different forms. Rhythm becomes movement; melody becomes line; harmony becomes colour; and silence becomes space. The collection invites the audience to look at clothing in the same attentive way that O’Keeffe encourages viewers to look at a flower – closely, slowly and imaginatively.
