ASICS & SOSHIOTSUKI Collaboration Just Released.
SOSHIOTSUKI is pleased to announce the release of a special collaboration shoe with ASICS, limited to just 50 pairs worldwide. Based on an ASICS handball shoe originally introduced in the 1990s, the design features a custom-made leather tongue crafted by artisans in Asakusa, Tokyo.
The tongue is made from Chromexcel leather, one of the signature leathers developed by Horween, the historic tannery based in Chicago, USA. Produced using a proprietary combination of chrome and vegetable tanning, Chromexcel achieves an exceptional balance of durability and flexibility. The leather is also generously infused with a special blend of oils and waxes, including beef tallow, fish oil, and beeswax, giving it a supple texture and a rich, distinctive appearance.
One of its defining characteristics is the “pull-up” effect subtle variation in color that emerges when the leather is bent or stretched. Over time, scratches and creases develop into a unique patina, creating an aging process that combines ruggedness with understated sensuality. Despite its substantial feel, the leather remains remarkably supple and easy to work with, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, including boots, bags, wallets, and belts. Renowned worldwide for its ability to withstand everyday use while developing character over time, Chromexcel is a leather that only becomes more complete with age. It embodies both Horweenʼs craftsmanship and philosophy, representing a distinctive tradition of American leather production.
The SOSHIOTSUKI and ASICS Collaboration shoes also feature a logo charm created by KOTA OKUDA, whose jewelry designs are featured in SOSHIOTSUKIʼs main collection. The charm is attached to one of the shoelace eyelets. The shoes (USD240) will be available from 9:00 AM JST on Thursday, October 29, exclusively through the SOSHIOTSUKI Online Store. They are also currently available for early release at Kith Tokyo (Tokyo) and Kith Manhattan (New York).
