On the evening of July 10th at the Musée du Louvre, American artist Jordan Roth will appear in the world premiere of his performance piece Radical Acts of Unrelenting Beauty on the occasion of the blockbuster exhibition Louvre Couture, the Museum’s first fashion exhibition. The performance, lasting thirty minutes, will be performed in its entirety three times in the grand Cour Marly.

Presented as part of the Musée du Louvre’s La Nuit de la mode celebrating the culmination of Paris Haute Couture Week, the performance marks the debut of a new chapter in Roth’s evolving practice as an artist. Created and performed by Roth, the piece explores the dynamics of identity, beauty, and its capacity for self-expression and transformation. Composed of three spectacular tableaux, “Red”, “Wings” and “Pyramid”, Roth draws inspiration from the exhibition Louvre Couture, and the museum’s collections and architecture. Accompanying the performance is an original score by composer Thomas Roussel.

The performance is free and open to the public via registration with the Musée du Louvre starting July 1, 2025.

About Jordan Roth Situated at the intersection of performance, art, and fashion, Jordan Roth’s multi-disciplinary practice brings together themes which explore the dynamics of beauty, spectatorship, and the capacity for self-transformation. At the locus of Roth’s practice is the physical body, a site upon which acts of bodily adornment—fashion, makeup, and other embellishments—enact rituals of metamorphosis, creating a cycle in which performance itself transcends into a state of self-becoming. Weaving personal history within the narrative of performance, Roth’s work draws influence from the worlds of fashion and theater, fusing both to formulate new vocabularies and pathways for realizing the promise of selfhood. Integral to Roth’s practice is the foregrounding of performance as a collective engagement, one in which audience and performer come together to encounter the ecstatic joy of self-discovery. Roth’s emphasis on the body’s capacity for internalized self-becoming can be situated amidst a lineage of performance artists for whom themes of self-mythology, theatricality, and process are incorporated. Roth’s first public performance piece Radical Acts of Unrelenting Beauty to be performed at the Musée du Louvre will be followed up by new exhibitions and performances at institutions around the world.
