We believe that clothing is not static, like a moving spectrum, shifting between different cultures, different bodies, and different points of view. Clothing is never just form, it’s also a tangible piece of zeitgeist –the spirit, mood, cultural climate and creative output of a specific era– With passing trends and cultural shifts, how we read and how we relate to a garment changes. As a brand we are interested in redefining garments, alter the zeitgeist and make it relevant to a new generation.

A.A. Spectrum SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 collection explores the cultural movement of men embracing their feminine side in the 1970s . The cultural shift was not only about gender, but also clothing, character, and identity. Trail blazers included mostly music celebrities, the ones allowed to change the norm and get away with it during that era. Our cross-cultural approach draws inspiration from traditional Chinese elements such as chest of drawers and heritage craftsmanship, blended with the spirit of European fashion and music.

Designwise, this collection reinforces A. A. Spectrum’s new direction, which is to propose the modern man’s wardrobe made from wearable yet directional pieces with a timeless yet contemporary feeling. Each garment must work as a single piece whilst at the same time fit the harmony of the collection. The design development process has been meticulous and thorough with each fabric and trim carefully considered so that each style is covetable and made to last beyond the season’s hype.

A.A. Spectrum SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 brings an element of playfulness in the design direction by blending the design language of traditional chinese chest of drawers into the Chester jacket, trouser, shorts and bag. It is also an intuitive and beautifully romantic collection with design details such as the meticulously crafted ladder lace with edge binding into the Lacer jacket, Hoodie, Short and the Cruise knitwear. Thinking out of the box by proposing new types of garments is a personal favorite of the design director, proposing new hybrids such as the ‘Kimolero’-—the bold fusion of a kimono and a bolero jacket or the Shiro jacket, by reimagining the classic French peasant work jacket with bold, tech-wear cut lines inducing sharp, contemporary geometry.

Transformation with a purpose is an important pillar of the collection in the context of having more bang for buck when purchasing a designer garment. The Saltskin 2 is a duster type coat made from light cotton gabardine that can be worn from early spring to then be transformed into a short mid-spring zip up jacket by ‘peeling off’ the top layer. Craftsmanship is at the art of this collection. Our design studio has been busy experimenting with countless smocking techniques culminating in the Plié shirt, with its beautifully pleated front panel full of texture and intricate depth.

This season reflects a refinement in material selection. Chinese traditional hand-dyed X ramie fabric —A millennial art form of transforming a wild plant into fabric— offers a unique handfeel and an exceptional summer freshness. We also selected real leather over PU leather for the first time, for its perceived qualities and durability. We crafted this collection for the style-conscious independent thinker possessing a tall, lean frame that brings our signature, architectural silhouettes to life. This individual embraces high-quality garments that reflect a unique attitude and style without the high price.
