Khaite marked its 10th anniversary at New York Fashion Week with a Spring/Summer 2027 collection that looked less interested in chasing novelty than in revisiting the ideas that have shaped the brand. For Catherine Holstein, the collection became an opportunity to look again at the relationship between clothing, the body, and the way women use fashion to express their identity.

Presented on September 12, 2026, at 7 p.m. in a minimalist warehouse at Brooklyn Navy Yard, the show immediately established a more intense mood. Kaia Gerber opened Khaite SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 runway in a leather midi skirt with corset lacing at the back, paired with a sculptural white bra. PJ Harvey’s “Rid of Me” added a sharper edge to the presentation, giving the collection an energy that felt more confrontational than the polished sensuality often associated with Khaite.

The clothes continued to move between opposing ideas. Corsetry and boned bodices appeared alongside leather skirts and outerwear, while voluminous crinoline shapes contrasted with tightly defined waists. Slip dresses and lingerie references brought a softer, more exposed quality, while transparent materials created another tension against the weight of leather. Long skirts were constructed into flower-like volumes, adding movement and shape without losing the collection’s strong focus on the body.

Rather than presenting a completely new direction for Khaite, SS27 feels like a closer look at the brand’s established vocabulary. Leather, sensual silhouettes, structured tailoring and feminine proportions are brought together in different degrees of intensity. The result is a collection that acknowledges Khaite’s past while showing how those familiar elements can still be reconsidered after a decade.

For its 10th anniversary, Khaite therefore stays close to what has made the label recognizable. The collection places American luxury sportswear in a more intimate conversation with the female body, balancing strength and sensuality without relying on one definition of femininity.
