Ray Chu Spring/Summer 2027 / SS27 at London Fashion Week
Ray Chu presents fans only club Spring/Summer 2027 at London Fashion Week. Quiet strength, rooted in Taiwan; illuminated by Swarovski ReCreated™ Crystals.
LONDON, 18 SEPTEMBER 2026 — Ray Chu presented his Fans Only Club Spring/Summer 2027 collectio during London Fashion Week, inspired by Taiwan’s Sambucus flower, known locally as 冇骨消. Its delicate white blossoms gather in cloud-like clusters; fragile yet resilient, understated yet powerful; becoming a metaphor for the strength found through connection, community and identity.
For Ray Chu SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027, founder and creative director Ray Chu transforms this organic structure into a gender-fluid wardrobe of refined tailoring, translucent layers and body-conscious silhouettes. Precision meets fluidity as botanical forms are fragmented across original prints, clustered embellishment, subtle textures and controlled shimmer. Two distinctive prints anchor the collection. Taiwan Banana Club, first introduced in the Pre-Spring 2027 capsule, brings a bold, colourful and nostalgic expression of Taiwanese culture. New Sambucus reimagines the flower’s clustered blossoms as an abstract, contemporary botanical.
Selected looks are illuminated with Swarovski ReCreated™ Crystals, supported by Swarovski. Made from crystal manufacturing breakage, the crystals introduce a circular approach to embellishment, applied in delicate formations that evoke droplets of water, shifting light and the natural clustering of the Sambucus flower.
SS27 also introduces a creative collaboration with Japanese artist MOMOJIRI WORKS, whose playful and distinctive approach to wearable art brings another dimension to the collection. Translating Chu’s Sambucus Botanical forms are reinterpreted through twisting lines, delicate structures and unexpected proportions, creating pieces that sit between jewellery, object and wearable sculpture. The collaboration extends the collection’s central idea of transformation: one inspiration interpreted through two different creative perspectives, where Chu’s fluid tailoring and botanical language meet MOMOJIRI WORKS’ instinctive, playful approach to form.
A further element of play comes through a presentation partnership with Hello Nancy, the Hong Kong sexual-wellness brand known for its colourful, fruit-inspired products and irreverent approach to intimacy and self-expression. Hello Nancy sponsors the presentation, with selected looks incorporating products from its playful Tennis Collection, including Ace and Smash – two tennis-inspired pleasure devices launched as the brand’s cheeky “doubles partners.” The partnership finds a natural connection with Chu’s Taiwan Banana Club universe, where fruit, colour, sensuality and humour come together with a lightness that moves between refined everyday dressing and more expressive statement pieces. With its playful nod to tennis culture, the collaboration brings an unexpected interaction between fashion, body and object, reflecting Chu’s belief that fashion can be sensual, considered and, above all, fun. Material innovation also remains central to Chu’s collection. Lightweight mint-fibre shirting brings breathability and softness, while quick-drying Icy Grass jersey introduces technical comfort to elevated everyday dressing. The collection predominantly uses natural-fibre-based or environmentally conscious fabrics, continuing Chu’s exploration of more responsible approaches to material, function and longevity.
“The Sambucus flower does not need to be loud to be noticed. Each blossom is incredibly small, but when they bloom together, they create something strong and almost otherworldly. For me, that represents the quiet strength found in community, identity and the courage to grow in your own way.” — Ray Chu, Founder and Creative Director
Throughout Ray Chu SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027, delicacy meets structure, transparency meets sensuality, and technical function meets fluidity. Tailoring remains at the heart of the Ray Chu vocabulary, reimagined for summer through sheer layers, relaxed shirting and adaptable separates designed to move across bodies, identities and occasions. Rooted in Taiwan. Shaped by a gender-fluid perspective. Brought to light in London.
