Richard Quinn has never really been interested in making understated eveningwear, and Spring/Summer 2027 makes that commitment even clearer. Presented in a mirrored room beneath crystal chandeliers, the collection turned London Fashion Week into an exercise in old-school glamour, with Quinn describing the mood backstage as “hyper-glamour” inspired by the 1980s.

Richard Quinn SS27 / Spring/Summer 2027 collection is built around the kind of occasion dressing that has become central to Quinn’s identity. Long gowns arrive in velvet, satin and embellished fabrics, often shaped through fitted waists, exaggerated sleeves, extended trains and floor-skimming proportions. Sequins and crystals add another layer of theatricality, while floral motifs remain an important part of Quinn’s visual language. Rather than attempting to make eveningwear feel casual, he embraces the idea that dressing up can still be an event in itself.

There is also a more provocative side to the collection. Opera-length gloves, pointed stiletto boots and flashes of black latex interrupt the romantic glamour, giving some of the looks a sharper and more contemporary attitude. Against the softness of gowns and florals, the latex introduces an almost fetishistic edge, preventing the collection from becoming purely nostalgic.

The finale, closed by Helena Christensen, brought the collection back to its central idea: glamour as spectacle. Quinn is not trying to reinvent the evening gown for SS27; instead, he continues to refine a world that has become distinctly his own, one where red-carpet dressing, couture-level craftsmanship and unapologetic femininity are treated as the main event.
